Guest neo89 Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I Hope Portugal Win This Year, Kick those Brazilians Off the Top Spot, If Only India Were in the World Cup!

Guest Disco Stu Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Shame the Sheilaroos couldn't get a goal against Brazil. Good showing all the same. English viewers will have marvelled at the pace and energy of Cartman Viduka :) Next we see France get knocked out ! all jokes stolen from the Guardian's Fiver email

Guest Disco Stu Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 I don't blame any individual players but, as a group, they have looked pretty clueless and that leads me to the conclusion that this talented generation has been wasted by Sven. I am so depressed. Germany will win it now.

I am so depressed. Germany will win it now. I utterly agree with that. I also don't see how anyone can blame Wayne Rooney. It was a rediculous idea leaving him up front on his own in the first place and Sven didn't even see that after the first time he did it.. Yes he's a strong player but you can't rely on one person out of eleven to win a game. Even after he got sent off England played with more determination! At first I thought he should of taken Defoe over Hargreaves but yesterday he damn well impressed me. I also would of liked to see Lennon over Beckham Edited July 2, 2006 by w411y
Guest sporkguy Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 My money is on England for the win ...oh.... wait....
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 Did Alan Shearer really say that after the match ?!? Was that what we were all thinking ? :)

Guest goochy1 Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 I'm sayin italy will win as i reckon brazil ain't looked tooooooooo good this year goochy1
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 Good job they are not againt Brazil then :)

Most reckon it was for the push afterwards and if that is the case then the main blame is Ronaldo (How often do you see a little shove and I've never seen a straight red for it so you can part blame the ref also if you want). Ronaldo was obviously out to agrovate Rooney and after the red card Ronaldo looked towards the bench, winked and smiled. I don't believe you can say that your theory is correct.. there's absolutely no way of telling what would of happened if he had stayed on, they could of lost before the 90 for all we know! As Gary Neville said before the match in the papers,"If we don't beat Portugal then there's no excuses, we must admit we failed."

I am so depressed. Germany will win it now. What concerns me a little is that Steve Mclaren was still second in charge throughout the tournament. Surely he has some influence on the squad selection/formation/tactics which are to blame for the best group of England players I've ever seen to go out in the quarter finals without so much as a decent performance to their name! And that's not taking anything away for the awesome battling they did with 10 men agains portugal, but they never really kicked into gear! Is Mclaren really going to grab this team by the scruff of the neck and shake it up a bit?

Guest w411y Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 Watching it again on youtube it does look sort of purposely done but I still can't see how that lost the game for England
Guest nevawlkalone Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 (edited) If you watch THIS VIDEO clip you can see that the Ref only calls Roo over for the card after the push.... and he only boots that dudes nuts as he spins round Edited July 5, 2006 by nevawlkalone
Guest adchaffey Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 If you watch THIS VIDEO clip you can see that the Ref only calls Roo over for the card after the push.... and he only boots that dudes nuts as he spins round I completely agree. I'm still 50/50 whether rooney meant it, but knowing his temperment it's possible it was deliberate. And I in no way blame Christiano Ronaldo for England being knocked out of the world cup. The way we we're playing we would never have won it anyway and there are hundreds of reasons for that! But it's so plain to see that the referee was not taking any action until the push. Regardless of what he's written in his report. Ronaldo's behaviour before and throughout the game was a disgrace to football. I've never been a fan of him. Sure he's skillfull, but his final ball is terrible. His crossing is useless and his passing not much better. Add that on top of being the most arrogont player i've ever seen, and he's not top of my list of friends!
