Guest conan_troutman Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 What really? Even if the app is installed on storage card? So I just have to put links in there and windows will start all of them automaticly? About Beta testing ... currently I wait for the next version of Sniper with improved Bluejacking mode to arrive ... yeah it works but it takes ahwile to boot up also it brings each applet that doesnt have the capabilities to run in the back ground right up to the front which is why we need the hidden feature to work here is a story for you all hopefully it will conince you Iam right your in the canteen at work everyones phone start to go off they all check their phones the people in the room laugh or smile or even both how ever your phone nothing you wonder whats so funny.... again the whole room erupts in beeps and buzzes as phones go off you check your phone nothing everones luaghing your getting paranoid whats wrong does the person sending the messages like your bluetooth name maybe they just dont like you again a round of beeps a nd buzzes still your phone nothing. thats it you cry ripping out your shot gun your all going to die foe laughing at me bang bang bang theres a guy in the corner hes sending the messages you confront him whats so funny punk you all laughing at me no he says it just some jokes and funny pics i thought i would share share share you cry am i not good enough to share with.... yes he says i sent them to everyone you see i have this program that allows me to send messages or files to everyone in the room via bluetooth everyone you say i can do that and i can recive them so why did you not send it to me... scum die bang!! you sit head in your hands you know the police will arive soon you got to send a bluetooth mesage to all phones in the room then you realise sniper wasn't running you killed all the applets an hour ago and for got to switch it back on beams was switched off to cos you cant use beams and sniper as one over rides the other. damn you killed everyone becouse of your paranoid delusion created by the fact the maker of sniper forgot to put in an autostart hidden mode function hhmmm wonder if I can sue them. get away with this mess on a technicality wasn't my fualt sniper made me do it. see in court suckers yep ithink the hidden mode and autostart into hidden mode are hugely important. what you reckon ?
Guest iforevans Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 Ok, new Beta is out. 0.9.90. This version, is I hope you will notice, a lot prettier. Thanks Victor! NB You will not see the fancy background on the homescreen if you have messages in your inbox! Blujacking now works with files as well as messages. I still have intermittant problem if a receiver does not acknowledge the transfer. Aprt from that I think we're good. Cheers ...Ifor
Guest leethacker Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 (edited) Yes, I can finally see that we're coming closer to release. :-) The new graphics really make the program a lot better. Havent played that much with the new version yet, but what I still notice is the bug, that the bluetooth status in the menu is not always up to date. So it still shows sometimes that Bluetooth is off even when its on. Heres how you can solve to problem. Just program a piece of code that checks the bluetooth status and updates the checks (i hope this is the right english word :) ) in the menu whenever "options" is pressed. Thats it - problem solved. ;-) Oh, and another little discovery: Forget about the colors in "About Sniper". All black gives it a more professional look that the blue-red-black text mix it is now. Was the sent file sent from Sniper too? ...Ifor OK, finally masnaged to reproduce it. Only seems to happen on WM5, not WM 2003! Which is a shame as the only device I can debug on is the WM2003 device :-( I'll get back to you here when I have a resolution. ...Ifor
Guest iforevans Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Ok guys, quick release just sent out (0.9.92) to fix the issue reported by conan_troutman. Seems ok now, was a WM5 specific threading issue. Cheers ...Ifor
Guest rowmiyo Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Yeah, any message is truncated. I haven't tried it with other nokia models, i'll try to find/borrow some nokia models and see if it'll work. I'll post the results as soon as I find some.... i have tried it with he nokia6600, same truncated result. :)
Guest jameshpg Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Hi ifor, Just something I've noticed whilst Bluejacking. I've only tried this when trying to bluejack files but if you're at the main sniper screen (lovely background by the way): Options>Scan&Send>Options>Bluejack!>Options>Bluejack with file>Choose file>The scanning window appears but on my QVGA C600 this is in a small window as if for a regular screen size that you might get on an E200. Otherwise, app is looking great. James

Guest jameshpg Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Ooops, forgot to allow for QVGA, on that screen! It will be fixed. ...Ifor Thanks Ifor, otherwise everything is A-OK! Feature request: When you are bluejacking you can press Stop! and it will terminate scanning yeh? Well I think you should implement this Stop! feature whilst scanning regularly because otherwise it gets boring waiting for it to scan if you change your mind and want to bluejack instead Feature request: Should be able to use Sniper to change your device name - never need to use the bluetooth menu again then! James
Guest leethacker Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Today also discovered something while bluejacking that is not that good: If someone does not accept a file that Sniper tries to send to a phone, bluejacking will not continue but Sniper will try to bluejack that phone as long as the person who owns that phone accepts that file. It would be much better if Sniper would after some period of time forget about that phone that does not want to accept the file and continue with the other phones on the list. Btw: Bluejacking function totally rocks! I showed to my friends today and they were totally impressed and they all now also want a Smartphone with Sniper on it. *lolz* :-)

I am looking into a possible solution. The problem I have is that the API call to send the file/msg doesn't have a timeout/cancel feature, so I am trying to come up with a workaround. Sniper looks pretty now ey? Cheers ...Ifor

James I think I may be able to change the name, but you can't change the BlueTooth Radio address of your device, it's built into the BlueTooth chip. So if someone knows your address they will know its u :-( No Way around it. ...Ifor

I am starting to begin to think how Bluetooth sucked before I had Sniper on my phone. ;-) Wow, that's great to hear. I hope other people will think the same :-) I am going to add a few more things before I release. 1. I am going to include a zipped up CAB file for Sniper and put an option on a help menu so you can send Sniper over Bluetooth to a friends phone. They will be able to run the cab and instantly have Sniper (The Trail version ;-) on their phone. 2. I have a cool Sniper rifle shooting mp3 that I am going to use as msg/file received alert :-) Then Sniper goes live! ...Ifor

BTW I have one other feature that you might like. I am going to make Sniper skinnable and hopefully the next Beta will have one skin for boys (the current one) and one for girls which is a little more femine ;-) ...Ifor Edited June 5, 2006 by iforevans
