Guest pride
I have an orange M5000. Does using this unlocker also install the Orange settings, such as MMS etc? If not does anyone know where these settings can be found so that I can have an unlocked orange phone that still functions on the Orange network? I normally use Orange but am going to the States soon and want to use a Cingular SIM card but obviously want the phone to work fully when I get back and put the Orange card back in. Guest fluffcat1
The worst this unlocker will do is hard - reset your device. It does not install a new full rom, just the radio section that reads the sim card and needs to be unlocked. In effect, you overwrite your locked radio with a new one that they know the unlock code for. Or summat. Too complex for me to understand :) You *could* then flash an imate rom on your phone etc, and this might be an idea as the imate has configuration options for most service providors so you could hard rest, set up and use gprs / mms on cingular, hard reset and re-install as orange UK afterwards, but you could also just leave it with the orange rom and settings after unlocking. Guest pride
Thanks for the advice Richard. I did exactly what you suggested and bloody hell, I wasnt prepared for the difference the Imate ROM would make. The phone itself is faster and more responsive than it was with the Orange ROM - and activesync now happens in seconds rather than the hour it used to take on its first sync. Your advice has made me very very happy. Thanks again. :) (Now just to find the settings for Cingular SMS & MMS - they werent on the IMATE ROM and I'm sorted for the States!!) Guest pride
Brilliant Confucious!! Thanks for pointing me in that direction. Have printed that off and will take it with me. Now I finally have the phone the way I want it rather than the way forced on me by Orange. Thanks again for all your help.
