Guest Pondrew Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Didn't Fluffcat1 know of a way to repair the damaged bootloader in these situations? Remember him saying it's very specialist though so not even sure if it's something he can do so much as him knowing the method HTC would use...
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Florin can fix it :) If you can get a bootloader, you should be able to flash to recover... P
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Nope no bootloader just a nice white "torch" Takes me back to your first Smartphone app all those years ago Paul.
Guest jm012a9749 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Florin can fix it :) I seem to remember florin will also ask for a small fee..... still its better than sending it back to htc i guess Phil
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 Out of curiosity I thought I would contact HTC. HTC state that only flashing roms as instructed by the network are covered. So unauthorised roms will definately void your warrany. So the initial basic cost for repair without any "other" work is
Guest mini_man Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 mmm not awful but not great. What does florin charge?
Guest pierre Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Hi there, sorry Awarner to know that your unit got spoiled. After spending hours since yesterday looking everywhere on the net for a rom, I eventually landed here, and finally accept there is no possible upgrade for my wife's C550! I really wanted one, because her phone has the exact same problem the very first generation of SPVs had: phone often freezes while attempting to place a call(needs to take the battery off.) Given one colleague of mine has the exact same problem, I decided that it is due to the rom. Yet I was surprised not to find more complaints here, and in the bug list in regards of this issue. So I now wonder is this related to the rom or to the hardware? And if the rom (it is a Swiss!), would it be possible to find the Orange UK one (in case this one doesn't have this bug)? Sorry though as it is a bit off-topic!
Guest The Doctor Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Florin can fix it :D If you can get a bootloader, you should be able to flash to recover... P You'll need a direct JTAG flash to recover the bootloader. 4 problems with this... 1) You'll need to MAKE a JTAG adapter for your PC serial port (and get all the wires in the right places etc) 2) You need to know where the JTAG points are on your mainboard are and in what order to solder the wires from your adapter onto your mainboard 3) You need a version of JTAG which support the ARM926 core 4) You need a valid bootlaoder image In essence this is pretty much beyond anybody save HTC and possibley florin_m. Phil
