Guest cpetzny Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Just to add to the confusion, I upgraded to the M3100 today. I'm on an old Talk Time 120 and Text 60 plan. They would not allow me to upgrade to a 12 month 'animal' plan (only 18 months), but they did (after a lot of searching) add an Orange World Unlimited bundle to my account at

Guest jimbouk Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 How much do you pay fpor your plan? ? What gives Orange censorship rights? Who made them god? At least T will let you unblock them if you want - I have, purely becaus I don't want to be told - who decides anyway? I don't want to find a site I want to visit has been deemed "adult" The only barr I am aware of is Orange Safeguard. This is selective (ie you can log in to your account online and turn safeguard on or off). If on it barrs adult sites and forums (including this one)! I have it disabled s(o that I can access modaco etc - not so I can surf porn!) but a couple of times recently I have tried to access modaco only to be redirected to Orange Safeguard saying site is not permitted as they are currently unable to identify me (ie they thought I was an anonymous user). I clicked a link to report the site as safe but orange texted me an hour later to say they had reviewed the site and still deemed it unsuitable!

Have a feeling the adult sites thing might be in their terms and conditions. I asked them for a copy, but the lady said they do not have it, I can find it on the website... Will see what happens when my next bill arrives... Chris
Guest Dr Who Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Melanie managed to sort out the confusion by seeking out two supervisors and getting an answer to the unlimited bundle question of 40 days. On the system where they do the upgrades it is called 'Orange Unlimited Date' and there appears to be a 40 day limit on it. However, the supervisor said that when it is applied to a 3G upgrade you can note that the end date for the bundle is set to the same as the end date of the contract. Weeeellllll, maybe not. Having spent the last two days on the phone to retentions, data, OCS, Help Desk and just about every other department in Orange this was the last thing I was told. There is a 40 day limit to the unlimited data. At the end of the 40 days it reverts to World Access 10. The reason the end date matches the end of contract date is BECAUSE it reverts, in other words the bundle doesn't end it is in fact Access 10 package. Given the total confusion about this I don't think I will be signing up to a further contract with Orange on the basis of this offer. I hope everyone who has gets what they have been offered, I think having notes added to your file is probably essential, but I am pretty sceptical at the moment.
Guest Pondrew Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Gotta agree with Dr Who. I suspect some of you are gonna be very disappointed BUT surely Orange (and O2 too) can't continue to overprice their data for long. Market research recently suggested that one of the main obstacles to the majority of phone users utilising data services is concerns at how overpriced they are. :) They're bound to react eventually... aren't they?! ;)
Guest Shaunfarris Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Maybe everyone needs to start hitting Orange's Contact Us pages regarding bundles and service plans to complain Click here to go direct to Orange Contact us Pay Monthly bundles and service plans and log your complaints Maybe if enough people do, they might begin to take the endless phone calls they are surely getting seriously and either clarify what they have or give us what we all want.
Guest Shaunfarris Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Could be this one too Data & Multimedia What the hell copy and paste your responese to the first link and then send it in the second one too :)
Guest mountee Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 I really hope you guys who have ordered it get what you hope for, I've been trying all your tips on 5 seperate calls to OCS and there's always a catch :) , either it's just offpeak, or it's capped to 4mb. Guest Dr Who Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 I have just spoken to O. As I already had Orange World Access 25 on my account and my next billing date isnt until 3rd Sept, they cannot put 3g trial or the unlimited package on until then. What they are doing though is to put the Try 3g 1000mb on from 3rd Sept and then have booked the Orange World Unlimited on for me from 3rd December. So whilst I will have to be careful with data usage until 3rd Sept - I will at least then have three months of 1000mb whilst O sort out what the unlimited really means! Except of course that the Orange World Unlimited package is meant to be valid only until 1st September.......... I have actually been stunned by the lack of preparation given to OCS staff on this product.

Also my shoulder hurts when I carry my laptop about, this should fix some of those issues if we get it sorted!!
Guest pd.ryder Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Guys this REALLY is absolute pants!! No-one knows what it's for, no-one knows what it's all about (and thats just the OCSR's)!!!!! As I've said, my Orange World 4 is good for ALL I need (except data allowance :) ) including HTML and IM. I can't understand how such a large provider is stuck up it's own a*se when dealing with these queries. Either it's available to people on certain cuddley-wuddley animal packages or it's not! I'm gonna hang on for a good while and will still be leaning toward T. Absolute rubbish Orange! Get with it! SORT IT OUT ORANGE!!!!!!! /giving up all hope now...
Guest Confucious Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Just out of interest, why are you guys still with O?
Guest mountee Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Just out of interest, why are you guys still with O? They've been okay to date, but now the whole 3g data thing show's them being very suckie...T-Mobile looks like the answer..unless Orange can pull the rabbit from the hat in the next few days on the data front!
Guest MARKUKCOUK Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Just out of interest, why are you guys still with O? Because from past experience Orange data is VERY stable, and o2s is all over the place. From early reports WnW also suffers from quite extreme slowdown and minor niggles. I now have an extention number for possibly Oranges best ever CS women, who is absolutely fantastic, helpful and very funny too :) who will put me on
Guest Dr Who Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Orange might be expensive and also quite retarded at times, but unlimited orange 3g sound great to me. Mainly because it does actually work most of the time For the next 40 days maybe but after that? 10 Mb?
Guest sameerabedi Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 I apologise in advance for my naivety, but with phones like the m3100 and m600 having Wi-Fi ability, how does the data charge work?? U r no longer using the GPRS connection, so what r u charged for???

U r no longer using the GPRS connection, so what r u charged for??? We are talking about data transferred over the UMTS/GPRS/EDGE(?) connection when you are out of the range of a friendly wifi spot.
Guest Confucious Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 I use unlimied 3G data on W'n'W and have never had a problem. I could use WiFi at home but why? It's a pain to connect and eats the battery.
Guest ricardo the fish Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Just out of interest, why are you guys still with O? 'cos I can't afford to buy myself out of my contract :) . But not to worry just over a month to go and T mob here I come (assuming I can get a VarioII) unless O can sort out this
Guest MARKUKCOUK Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 For the next 40 days maybe but after that? 10 Mb? It isn't just for 40 days - its for the life of the contract, and its in the terms and conditions.
Guest Dr Who Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 It isn't just for 40 days - its for the life of the contract, and its in the terms and conditions. I was EXPLICITLY told that it has a 40 day exclusion period after which the orange world unlimited bundle is still active, which is why it runs to the end of the contract, but only provides 10Mb a month. I appreciate you have probably been told something different but I have zero faith in them providing what you think they are providing and quite a lot of faith in the fact they will cut you off after 40 days and then not allow you to remove the 10Mb bundle you will end up with. This sort of behaviour has happened to me before with Orange and I am not buying into it again.

This sort of behaviour has happened to me before with Orange and I am not buying into it again. I understand what you are saying. I have had notes put on my contract that I was taking the Panther 55 with the "unlimited" until the end of 18 month contract and if they a) reduce the bundle to 10mb and enforce that I keep the bundle for the life of the contract, I will end my entire contract with them and leave for another network. This was following an OCS person checking with a supervisor and the two of them reading the terms and conditions and confirming that it would remain unlimited for the 18 months. Having said that, I already had Orange World 25 and that will remain til my next billing date in sept, then i get the try 3g three months unlimited (fup applies and 1000mb limit), then the orange unlimited bundle starts - so if by early dec, it transpires that the unlimited bundle is only 40 days, i will have it removed before it even starts. With regards to the network data performance, I am getting blistering data speeds over 3g and today whilst in Kingston, it dropped to GPRS (not even edge - unless the E symbol isnt enabled) and that was significantly quicker than my prophet over Edge. So far so good! As an aside - and slightly off topic, the call quality on the M3100 is superb. I thought the JAMin was ok, but this is streets ahead both for me and for the person at the other end.
Guest Dr Who Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Its a shame (for Orange!) really, because I was all set to upgrade both handsets on my account to higher contract spends than I am on currently. If they could convince me this offer was real, or even that any of the, oooh, seven OCS staff I have spoken to over the previous three days had HEARD of this deal or had ANY clue what the T&C's meant I would have gone for it. As I said the last woman I spoke to, in Data services, went off to speak to her advisor and came back and categorically said that it was 40 day limited and when I said, "but when added to a 3G handset it extends to the end of that contract" she said it would appear that way because the bundle stays on but only provides 10Mb. That clinched it for me!
