That is the only reason for not going with T - no coverage. I've found it to be at least as good, if not better than O everywhere I go.

I have it on good authority that that may not be the case...........

Is there a 1 giggle and bite limit?

God I hope not!

Glad the missus never goes on Modaco!

Hi Shaun and welcome. Firstly, you are a very very brave man by identifying yourself with OCS!!! Time was everyone here was on good terms with Orange, we even had our very own Mr Orange, but those times are wayyyyyy gone.

Other thing is, you may want to change your user name. At least one employee of Orange has been sacked because they posted on this site. They were identified by their user name and the location given in their personal info. Now, you may already be savvy to this but identifying yourself by name and birth year could well lead you into trouble. Just a bit of friendly info, like.

Indeed! however it lead to a more prosperous employment with T :) (50% off for life anyone?)

Just to reiterate - I would definately not be prepared to sign up to a giant call/text package for 18 months just to be allowed access to reasonably priced data. And off-peak would be completely useless to me anyway.

So, Shaun1987 - I'm afraid I would complain like the proverbial mother-in-law if this is the best Orange can do to allow data-oriented-devices to be used as such. Pants man...!

Well, I have some new news. For those of us on Orange considering this vapour-ware Orange deal, or moving to T-mobile with the Vario II, I just spoke to the guys in the T-mobile shop in Leadenhall Market (that's London, England BTW) as one of them went to an event last week and he said he could find out the release date. He has told me that Vario II's will be "with TM UK" (whatever than means) on 16th August, and in T-mobile shops on the 20th August.

Literally as I finished my conversation, someone else came up and asked the exact same question about Vario II release date...and got the same answer (that's consistency Orange can't match ;o).

But before you all rush to this shop, both me and the other guy put our names down to be contacted when they arrive, so we'll have first dibs. Suggest doing the same in your local T-mobile shops as I think this phone will be very popular.

He didn't have prices, but said he may do by next week, so I'll check back and post and more info...

Hey mate, I know, i'm not stupid enough to give my real name out with my read DOB. The year is purly a special year for me, I wish I was that young! lol Cheers to the advice tho!

I have to agree t's WnW is extreamly good, and at present Orange can't match that. I can kinda see where you are coming from... Cheers

I have more corroborative evidence - I've just asked a mate of mine working at T-Mobile to find out about the arrival date, and he got back to me and said it was 19th August (20th Aug is a sunday btw). So at least we are getting a consistent answer ...

- though they were all saying 1st August only a few weeks ago.... :)

Who was - all the reports I've read have said August - No one actually said the 1st AFAIK

okay - not to me personally, but in the "HTC Hermes (ORANGE RELEASE DATE)" thread several people claimed to have talked to cust serv and been told 1st August - I know you shouldn't believe everything you read but i'd sort of ended up taking it as the gospel truth, but i'm sure it isn't the last time i'll be dissapointed....

Still, at least t-mob germany have a picture of it now on their site so it is feeling less like a practical joke
