Guest jimbouk
So the University of Southampton boffins were bored one day and "shot" some flourine atoms at the boron/silica stuff that microprocessors were made of...and as the flourine blasted through the boron/silica it left some holes behind it. As a result electrons could whizz faster through the layers in a chip and hey presto a microprocessor that runs at a theoretical speed of 110ghz - which would mean a real world speed in phones etc of 10ghz... And here's us enjoying our 800mghz processors... (for the full-ish story, click here)
