Guest gavingovinden Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Hi, forgive my ignorance but when the 3G symbol appears at the top of the screen what does it actually mean? I'm also slightly worried about the fact that if the wifi signal becomes weak the phone switches straight to 3G. Does this mean I start getting charged by Orange for surfing the net as soon as it switches? If so, how do I turn this 3G off as I never envisage having to use it. Many thanks
Guest jimbouk Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 3G is the "hi-speed" cellular data network. If you have the white box with 3G in it, that simply means that there is 3G data coverage. If the phone signal strength switches to a small 3 (above the signal bars) then your phone has connected to the 3G service and any data useage may well be going via that - and yes, you would be charged for such usage. You could delete the orange 3g, gprs entries in your settings, connections, manage existing connections.
