Hi

I need to know if it's possible to transfer Outlook contacts without using Activesync.

I currently have Activesync 4.0 installed on my work PC and I've just tried to connect it to my M3100 to transfer my contacts over but it needs Activesync 4.1. Problem being my work have tightened up on IT securoty and I can no longer install software on my PC. Also just handed in my notice so they're not going to be doing me any favours any time soon!

So - how to transfer contacts from Outlook Pro 2003 to my M3100 without Activesync?

Apologies if this has been posted before, I did search but couldn't see anything.

Thanks

Paul

A while back I posted some code, that you can copy into Outlook, which will export all your contacts to individual VCF files.

Those can then be copied to your device and clicked to "install" that contact

It's written in VB Script, so try a search for my posts that have "+vcf +outlook +contact" and it should show up

The first step to take, as you are giving notice, is to export your contacts from Outlook to a csv file and then email it to home from work. At least you will then have them safe and secure.

Put Outlook on your home PC and import.

Or even better, a PST file.

That would be a neat piece of code - if I could find it :D Are you sure you didn't dream you posted it, coz the search engine doesn't return it (even if you shrink the criteria down to just "outlook" and the posters' name to "chucky.egg").......

For now, the PST on a stick is my favourite option; as you (and others) have said, it's a manual process......c'est la vie :D

The code is about somewhere, I've seen it but this was far too much work! Ended up bribing the 17yr old IT trainee with beer and porn to grant me local admin access :D

Good man!!! Mind you, since you're on your way to pastures new, I doubt you care much for company policy right about now :D

Maybe I'll have a search-fest another time and see if I can dig up the VBA that @chucky.egg donated......then again, I could write something myself....decisions, decisions!

Cheers, Mark.

BTW - Good luck in your new venture, whatever it may be :D
