Guest Paul (MVP)
Tsk... you don't see ANY TV enabled Smartphones for ages, and then 2 come along at once... isn't that always the way? Following on from our exclusive 'Virgin Mobile Lobster' manual excerpts, we're pleased to let you know that the other HTC TV enabled Smartphone, the HTC Forseer, has just got the nod from the FCC - custodians of the US airwaves. A 2.5G Quad Band EDGE based Smartphone with an thin profile and a unique widescreen candybar layout, the Forseer, like the HTC Monet (the Virgin Mobile Lobster 700), features a 1.3MP camera and microSD expansion. The device is powered by the customary TI OMAP 850 200MHz processor, The Forseer packs a DVB-H turner to receive it's TV transmissions and is expected to be marketed in the US by Modeo... but there's no word on actual availability yet either in the US of A or in other territories. Guest nickcornaglia
I just did a search in Wikipedia: In the USA, a nationwide service will be rolled out by Modeo a company owned by Crown Castle Mobile Media. The service will begin in 2006 in New York City and will roll out to the top thirty markets in the USA during 2007. Modeo owns 5MHz of spectrum nationwide at 1600MHz. At the NAB trade show in April 2006, a second service launch was announced by SES Americom and Aloha Partners. Titled Hiwire Mobile Television, the service is set to begin trials in Las Vegas in Q4 2006. Hiwire owns two 6 MHz channels of spectrum at 700MHz covering most of the country. Here is Modeo's Website: http://www.modeo.com/ Here is a PDF Spec Sheet of the phone: http://www.modeo.com/spec_sheet.pdf Sounds kind of cool....but what kind of content will be available? And what will battery life be like?
