I just noticed my windows, OK and softkeys have no back lighting, even when the main keyboard is open and lit. The call and end call keys do light whever the screen is on.

Can anybody tell me if their Vario II keys have backlighting or if there is a way to enable/disable them?

Mine are not lit, it never occurred to me that they could be!

Anyone else have this lit?

If you're talking about the buttons below the screen, then they're not able to backlight on the M3100 as there are no windows in them.

Only my call/hangup seem lit.

Just as NikLP says, they are not designed to be backlit.

The VARIO II shold have red backlights on the keyboard.

Check that START>SETTINGS>BUTTONS>BACKLIGHT has the box ticked "Enable keyboard backlight auto sensor."

The sensor is the little dot on the top RHS of the keyboard.

The backlights will only come on in poor light so open the keyboard up, put a finger over the sensor and press a button - you should see the red glow?

Could have sworn they were lazer cut keys :D They still look like they could be :D

I guess it must be 7-day DSR return deadline paranoia kicking in! :D
