Guest barfoo Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 (edited) I'm using a Samsung SCH-i760 on Verizon, and when I installed this program, I only had one network to disable: BroadBandAccess. The reason I downloaded this program is because I was referred to it in another forum, when asking how I can avoid using Verizon's pay-per-kB data network, and still use MMS. A user there said he/she/it was using it and it blocked BBA, but not SMS/MMS/Phone connections. Unfortunately, I installed the program, disabled my only choice, and immediately tried to send a picture message... The message didn't send. I went back into NoData and enabled the BBA network and sent the same picture message from the DRAFTS folder, and it sent with no problem at all. Is there any way to use SMS/MMS/Phone while blocking pay-as-you-go data usage? Check out this forum for more info: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsung-sch...html#post689079 Edited November 29, 2007 by barfoo

Guest Howiehowie93 Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 Hi is this the fix for my O2 account when I'm abroad? When ever I'm over sea's what ever phone I'm using; XDA Exec, XDA Mini S, alway rack up a bill by ringing up somewhere and loging on for 4 seconds then disconecting. Not bothered trying my Kaiser I simpley dont take anything except my company phone abroad now, or get local SIM Cards, or the USA's case a pay as you go motorola $28 from Radioshack! O2's loss! they told me its was a normal thing! HA! regards Howie
Guest smacmillan Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 (edited) This works well, but it'd be nice to use it via the command-line, and without confirmations and pings. I'm thinking in terms of being able to use it with SBSH's PhoneWeaver so that I have an item that turns WiFi on & GPRS off, vice versa, just GPRS off, etc. I know that I can do that by creating a non-functional Internet entry and toggling that or my provider's entry in PhoneWeaver. But using nodata is more elegant and eliminates the 'cannot connect with your settings' pop-ups. Any possibility of adding command-line switches? -- something like a numerical or free-text switch to select the item from the GPRS items list, and another for on or off (or just toggle), and (perhaps) another for prompt/silent A great little tool, so thanks anyway if this isn't possible. Guest dead_beat Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Excellent app me ol' pedigree chum! I'm off to the states in the mornin so this will work wonders! Now all we need is an app to fool those lame yank networks into not charging us for receiving calls :( 55p a min according to the t-mob site! What a disgrace! It's cheaper to send a bloomin txt (20p)! haha Cheers again mate.
Guest Wooley Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 Quick, handy little application i've rustled up as i'm off abroad for a few days soon, and don't want to run up a huge GPRS bill. It lists your GPRS connections, and allows you to disable them so that they won't be used. Disable your connections before you leave, re-enable them when you return - piece of cake with MoDaCo NoData :( P Hi I know this is a registry tweak app but is it possible to add a scheduling feature, so that you can get nodata to enable/disable at set times ? Thanks Wooley
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Finally updated to add Smartphone compatability! :) CAB in first post updated! P
Guest mrmond Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Finally updated to add Smartphone compatability! :) CAB in first post updated! P TThanks Paul. This will really come in handy. My E650 keeps trying to connect when I turn off wifi if internet is still running & I keep losing credit.
Guest RiCoCheT Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 WOW, a much needed app, a big bonus its FREE :) thanks for Paul. Take it even though it invokes GPRS it doesnt actually connect and we can ignore the little G. Got it installed on my XDA Graphite WM6. Thanks again.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Oh yeah, test it peeps. You should get no little G, just the big G... P
Guest andy_scot_uk Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Paul Can we send you money for this application? I used to get huge phone bills when my phone dialed GPRS without my knowledge and all that is sorted. Other guys have a "donate" facility to compensate them for their time and perhaps motivate them to continue support. Not talking about sending a lot so don't go buying a car but certainly willing to donate. How do I do it?
Guest ga!nusha Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 this app is great!! THANKS for this!

Guest highlorddave Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 (edited) help after installing this app i can no longer dial out or send texts, what registry value has been chnged so i can correct this EDIT: some more info i have found WIFI and Bluetooth still work, GPRS, telephone and text do not i have the orange operator logo and signal strength indicator but the big G has gone when my girlfriend tries to call my phone she is rewarded with "network busy" if i try to call out i get "dialing" displayed for a few seconds then it hangs up with "call ended" i have tried toggeling all the options within the NODATA program with no luck i have 5 options in the program 1 - enabled 2 - enabled Orange GPRS WAP - Enabled Orange Interntet - Enabled Orange MMS - Enabled not sure what other info i can supply but hope you can help me dave i will also add that it is entirly possibe this is a ntwork problem and nothing to do with NODATA, though i have never had this before and it does seem odd that it coincided with the installation of the software Edit 2 i hav tried my SIM in another phone and it works, so i guess i can rule out network trouble Edit 3 A hard reset has fixed my device, but reinstalling NODATA causes the problem again. Is there any info i can provide for you for debugging purposes before i reinstall all my phone software? Dave Edited January 19, 2008 by highlorddave
Guest simen Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Hi there. I tried instaling this app but it seems to have no effect on my WM6 HTC Touch. Regardless of what I disable the phone stille connects to EDGE and GPRS like before. Are there any similar apps anyone could recomend? My phone keeps connecting to GPRS even though I have set all my programs to not connect automatically.

I've an HTC Touch (Rogers wireless in Canada) and nodata works fine for me -- except that you need to manually close a data connection if you've already established one. So the sequence is toggle GPRS off with nodata; then hold down the disconnect phone button (right button) until the quick list comes up. Then press the "Terminate data connection" selection. You're done. The registry change that nodata makes works fine so if you reset the Touch GPRS will still be unavailable. Scott

Scott Unless I haven' t understood what you are saying, I strongly disagree with you. The purpose of the NO DATA program, I believe, is that after you set it up, i.e running this program to toggle between various connections that exist in your mobile and make the choices you wish, is to protect you and keep these settings no matter what, unless you run this program again. When you can still get connected to some of the "disabled" networks these settings when reviewed you can see that have been changed, then this program does not work.
