Ok. i've got a question... as some of you might be aware, Flexmail supports IMAP IDLE.

flexmail:

if your unsure about what imap idle is, refer to this:

http://email.about.com/od/emailbehindthesc...g/imap_idle.htm

now, my question is, Which method would consume more data:

1. periodically checking your imap mail every 60 minutes (using just the outlook app provided on windows mobile 5.0)

or

2. using flexmail's imap idle to syncronise your mail.

both methods download all emails and ONLY download email headers.

thanks for your help.

I don't know enough about IMAP idle to know the answer. With WM5 Push email it uses a lot more data than checking every 60 mins as there is a constant "heartbeeat" between the phone and the server to make sure they are always connected. If IMAP idles works on a similar basis then it will use more data, if it only uses data when it is sending the headers then it will use less data as it is not checking constantly even when there are no emails.

Here in the UK we have reasonably priced 'unlimited' data plans so it's not really an issue for any of us that are with T-Mobile
