If your having problems creating the cache don't alter your reg settings, it's likely to have no effect as final burn builds the cache in a sub-folder where it is located. Use fbaud (first post) to create the cache on your PC and copy it onto your PPC.

On another note PocketCultMAME .5 is a WORK IN PROGRESS release and is not supposed to work on all devices and flawlessly so for gods sake treat it as such.

twolf; the directory you last saved the state to probably isn't stored. You have probably saved the states in these locations yourself and have taken it for granted that you are in the save state folder.

Actually you're mistaken as to the need to alter registry settings. I had quite a few games where the cache was created the first time - but subsequent attempts to load would yield blackscreen errors. Raising the available cache in the registry settings fixed all the problems for me. I've been running error free for almost a week. This is a problem unique to WM5.

That said, I'd agree with you that people should try to create the cache before taking the risk of modifying the registry settings.

Its a bit off topic, but did altering the cache give you more memory? i didnt get me a dell x51v yet because my friends told me its not possible to free enough ram to load 32 megabyte roms on pocketgba? Would it be possible with that "trick"?

My bad, I thought you were simply referring to creating the cache.

This is a problem unique to WM5.

I'm sure Microsoft would probably call it a feature. :)

Have you tried running any of the Last Blades, if so how do they perform?

Actually I WAS able to load The Last Blade 2 and it worked GREAT up until level 4. I think that has to be the most beautiful 2D game I've seen. BUT the 4th scene features a lot of flames in the background and that slows it down to a crawl. Really unplayable, maybe 5 frames per second. Its a real shame, because I would like to keep playing.

Zeiram, it might work to free up that much RAM. I'd even say it was probable - but I couldn't guarantee it. What the hack does is increase memory available to programs - though inefficiently. I had 30 megs of available program memory before this hack. When I set the registry setting to 16, my memory availabe went to 25. A brief foray to 32 dropped my available memory to 20 megs. Background programs also use up more of your memory.

impressive work, 4th fight!..

havent been able to do that, i can only speculate...

- maybe ppc ran out of mem(i mean NOT for emu, just system..), try to lower free program mem a bit, if its wm03 machine, and its time for mem tweaks, if not,

- try to turn off smooth scaling...

this program(s) is a great program for freeing up memory on your phone, when u run it, it makes u have as much memory as if u were to turn ur phone on and off. (when i run it mine goes back to about 28,000kb of ram). make sure to download both programs to free up even more memory

I don't believe it's an issue of system memory. Before I run the game I have roughly 22 Megs of program memory free. The game only ever slows down at the 45th fight - even the intro where it shows some of the flames. I believe those flames used a graphics feature that finalburn does not fully support. I haven't tried to turn off smooth scaling - I'll see if that helps at all.

BTW Mikeey - that's a useful program. It doesn't get me all the way there - but it does free up some extra program memory. When I restart my phone - I have 25 megs free. After hours of use I had 19.5 megs. When I downloaded those aps and ran them, I ended up at 22 megs. So not bad, that'll get me some memory back when I don't want to reset the phone.

hm.. i run them both a few times and i sometimes get more memory then when i start my phone. ive goten it to say 29,300kb. i just assigned them both as a speed dial. hibernate is 2 and CloseApps is 3. so il just sit there sometimes clicking 2 and 3 about 4 or 5 times and il get a lot of free memory.

Hey Mikey,

I've played with it a little more - and had the same experience as you. BUT, I have problems with programs playing in the background. After running that program, I often lose the use of background programs that have to run - like the keyboard fix. I'll have to play around with it some more, but I can't seem to get my phone to run stable after clearing out that much RAM. But you're right - my available RAM went up to about 29 megs.

BTW - I was able to get a version of The Last Blade 1 that worked. It runs GREAT, with none of the slowdown I saw with part 2. I still believe part 2 crashed because of a graphic requirement that FinalBurn doesn't meet. I got to the 7th fight before FinalBurn crashed - but that's not unusual with Neo Geo games. I'm just hoping a save game feature can be developed for Neo Geo - so I don't have to redo everything after a crash.

If your phones can handle it, I heavily recommend The Last Blade 1 and The Last Blade 2 as fighting games. Beautiful music and sound, with detailed anime graphics. The action is smooth and fast. I normally don't like fighitng games, but I love these 2. I'd never played them before Final Burn - now I might want to play them direct on my PC.

hm yea now i notice if i run the programs in a certian combination il lose my Red button, but i can still use the home button wich does the same thing. and funny thing i can still key lock my device with the red button, i just cant go to the homescreen. but if i run hybernate first and then closeapps this doesnt happen. thats the only problem ive had

and i cant enjoy playing Last Blade 1 or 2 before it automaticly rotates my screen landscape. if the screen could be rotated then i could enjoy playing. otherwise this looks like a really cool game

congratulation Masterall you did a really awesome job on this emulator!

I know it may have already been asked, but could it be possible, in order to make it playable on a 240*240 screen, to add an option which let you choose which part of the screen will be cropped?

By default it is the right side on my device which make, for example, a game like metal slug hard to play (especially on climbing phases).

the best would be to scale down the size of the image to make it fit the screen but i know it represent a lot of work and maybe speed issues.

the emulator works perfectly on my device (intel pxa270 processor 512mhz overclocked) except this little problem.

thank you for having done such an emulator which let us enjoy old arcade games with smooth graphics and sound on our smartphones!

yeah, im wondering the same thing. I have a treo 700wx and this emulator runs perfectly with sound and all. but the screen is only 240x240. just wandering if final burn can be scaled down some kind of way

If you like beatemups like Finalfight - I've been enjoying the Sengoku series of games for Neo Geo. The 3rd one has the best graphics of the series by far - but doesn't have the same feature which allows you to "channel" different spirits and change form. Also - the sound plays great, but there's no music? I can't believe this to be the case - maybe finalburn is just not compatible with the music.

The one improvement I'm hoping for out of FinalBurn - would be the ability to save Neo Geo games. Too many times, I get to the last level - and FinalBurn crashes out, making me lose my progress. This has happened recently with Metal Slug 3, Last Blade 1&2, and Sengoku 3. If masterall could fix the save feature, I'd be overjoyed.

Hey Guys, Is this easy to install like the PicoDrive? I see some other files that are below the Actual Final burn. I also been reading and some earlier posts have it where people were running this on their computer before installing it? Thanks for any help

Fantastic emulator! It's been very easy to run the CPS1 & CPS2 games on my Motorola Q. All of the games that appear on the list run extremely well (I've tested everything but the fighting games). I've got the correct neo geo bios, but the neo geo roms are far more difficult to detect and run well. Good stuff.

It isnt working on my Ipaq 3850 with OS upgraded tu WM2003 :) :D

When i try to run portait game (Varth for example) Finalburn quits immediately. When i try to run landscape game (Street Fighter Alpha 2 for example) i got black screen with sound in the background. When i now pause game Finalburn shows paused graphic, but unpausing it causes crash of Finalburn.
