Guest Steadyeddie Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Evening all. I'm a first time PPC user and am having trouble installing downloaded programs. For instance I tried to download the Jumpyball game from Pocketnew, it downloads ok but when I click on 'yes' to install I get an error saying 'not a valid pocket pc application'. This is the same error I get when trying to download and install most things. I know it's probably something simple, but I'm a simple person and need simple instructions!!!!! Help!!! Jeff
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Please post the link you downloaded the game from... P

P Hi Paul I'ts http://www.pocketnew.info/index.php?act=jumpyball I click on the 'free download' under pocketpc, click on 'yes' in the pop up box to download (the 'open file after download' box is ticked). It downloads ok, then asks me to install, then I get the error Edited October 31, 2006 by Steadyeddie
Guest Steadyeddie Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Right, after reading the manual (Doh!!) I sussed out how to do it using active sync, but I'd like to know how to do it when I'm not at the PC if that's possible. Jeff
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 If you are not at the PC you have to make sure the application can be installed directly on the device. Normally this sort of file will be in the form of a .cab extension as most .exe require you to install via Activesync.
