Guest Paul (MVP)
In my review of the MDACIII sister device, the HTC P3300, I raised questions as to whether the 'QuickGPS' assisted GPS was actually doing anything. Now my missus has a MDACIII, we are still finding that the time to first fix (TTFF) is longer than I would expected with an A-GPS device... I still have my suspicions that the QuickGPS data isn't being fed properly to the SiRF III chipset. Anyone else agree / disagree? P
Guest Paul (MVP)
Maybe a scientific test with / without QuickGPS data is in order! P
Guest kurtfhouse
I would agree, it doesn't matter whether you've just used QuickGPS or if its due an update it always takes a fair old while to get a fix on me.
Guest stormuk
Unsure if it helps, but I have noticed on Tom Tom when I first boot up, even though the GPS is not doing anything the sat markers do seem to be positioned correctly, normally on my old GPS units they would all be grouped at the top. Guest MarkBR
I'm not convinced it does anything either - I have Tom Tom 5.21 installed and it seems to take ages to get a fix - far longer than my Tom Tom ONE for example. M.
