Windows Media can't play wav files, E_OUT_OF_MEMORY

I have a problem in my WM5 application that somehow seems related to memory lack of some sort.

The problem shows itself like this. First I play a mp3 file using the windows media interface. I then switch to playing a wav file but windows media is completly silent. Later on in my application I get E_OUT_OF_MEMORY when trying to instance some large dll's. However if I use memmaid to monitor my RAM and ROM use it states that I Should have 37Mb ROM left and 25Mb RAM. It seems to me that I have run into some limit that I wasn't aware of but I can't figure out which. Greatful for any help!
