Guest sway Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 You don“t need to wait until Czech or UK version will appear. If will appear.. Upgraded WM5 to WM6 yesterday and it works without any problems. Synchronise everything as phone will be empty after the process. And what about localization? Is there any way how to localize it with WM6, or is it really necessary to buy localization from Sunnysoft?
Guest onlyconnect Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Has anyone in the UK upgrades to WM6 using the 'netherlands' trick ? Just wondering if the keyboard mappings are there and everything works ok Everything works fine except my email accounts have a habit of disappearing, but I don't know if this is anything to do with WM6. However, please don't blame me if it does not work for you :-) Tim

If not great, I might wait for the official Samsung UK update, just to be safe. I also understand the carousel is not available in WM6 - is this true ? thx

I've not noticed much speed increase but then again I hadn't actually spent much time with WM5 so I'm not the best person to ask. The carousel is the same. I think you might wait a lonnnnnng time for the official UK update, but who knows? Tim
Guest Geogaddi Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 (edited) i installed WM6 successfully today :D so i can confirm that! (man, i nearly peed my pants during that :D ) 1. you do NOT need to upgrade to GD1 before upgrading to WM6. i had also i600XXGC4 before. now it is i600XXGG2 2. you MUST use the admin settings procedure to change the country settings. the regular regional settings do NOT effect the ability to update your device. so if you use the dutch updater exe set your country to Netherlands. that is discribed here: do the rest of the update like xippon discribed earlier. 3. after the update to WM6 you might want to go to admin settings again in order to set it back to your region. Okay, I'm new here and I've got a slight problem... I bought a sim-free i600 from an online company called b4utele in the UK and after entering *#1546792*# on my handset I've discovered that my phone is actully from the Far-East!! List of regions I have = Default Singapore Indonesia Malaysia Phillipine Thailand Vietnam and when I check the phones software version I have version number i600DXGD1, a version number that the Samsung i600's WM6 website will not accept no matter which region i choose! I do hope there's a simple answer to this one, otherwise I'm screwed as I need WM6 to sort out Fring and some serious stability issues. I've heard you can do a "double-update" trick involving a XXGD1 rom but I have no clue where to find this. ;) **edit, nevermind guys, I found the XXGD1 software in the Wiki, reading through 21 pages of questions is always good fun! ge0 Edited September 6, 2007 by Geogaddi
Guest b_conquistador Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 regarding the upgrade xxGD1. After downloadng it and going through the motions of wanting to install it, it asks to select image to download after pressing the start key up on the uodater. What is this? Please read through this thread carefully. What you have is a Vodafone version, which I've also had. You should upgrade to XXGD1 first, and then to WM6. You will find detailed instructions in this thread. D.
Guest jonstock Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 hi has anyone done the wm6 update on an orange uk i600 and been sucsesful thanks
Guest gavinfabl Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 hi has anyone done the wm6 update on an orange uk i600 and been sucsesful thanks There may be a key mapping problem with the WM6 rom for UK users. I have followed instruction by xippon from page 15, but I have a problem using Agenda One by www.developerone.com. If I edit an appointment the keyboard does not register correctly, it works once but exit and re-enter program and it fails. I have posted a separate thread, as I need some help on this.
Guest kwakkies Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Hey all, a newbie here. I got my i600 now for a few days. I bought it from somebody that i think unlocked it, because i got the version number: i600XXGC2. I have downloaded the Dutch updater (because i live in the Netherlands), and follow all the settings here earlier in the topic but i was not able to get WM6 on my i600 ;) I was working on my brothers PC (Windows XP SP2) and by clicking 'Verify Device' the Updater crashes. But the strange thing is that on my own PC (Windows Vista and yes i know on Vista it didnt work) the phone will verify and i get the screen on my mobile to restart it and open that USB Loader program, but after a few time i got the message PDA not found FAIL. I have tried anything many times but still i dont got WM6 on my mobile! Can please someone help me? Thanks!
Guest karanm Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 (edited) I did update corectly, but how can i change now my keybord back to azerty from qwerty without changing network preconf. ? (When i press "A" it tipes "Q", "W" tipes "Z"....) Edited September 12, 2007 by karanm
Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 And what about localization? Is there any way how to localize it with WM6, or is it really necessary to buy localization from Sunnysoft? I would not use czech version anyway... So I like english version with support for czech locale, what works just fine for me.
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 I just asked Samsung when the UK update would be released and today got this reply: At present we are not sure if or when the windows mobile 6 upgrade will be released. I will keep a hold of your e mail address and when I have concrete details of this I will contact you to advise further. ------------------------------------------------------------ I hope this has been of some assistance to you. Guest michehrlich Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Guys, a colleague of mine has just ordered an i600 which will come with WM5 and he wants me to update it to WM6. I'm in Belgium, where the languages are French and Dutch, but my colleague is anglophone and likes his OS to be in English. In WM5 there was built-in language provisioning that allowed you to choose your OS language. Can I gather from the way that Samsung is distributing the WM6 update country-by-country that this is no longer the case in WM6? Samsung is already providing the update for Belgium -- in two versions, French and Dutch. What I need to know is, if I do the update, say using the French-language link, will I be able to then switch the OS interface language to English? Or will my colleague then be stuck with an irreversibly French-language phone? Thanks in advance!

I am guessing slightly, but I should think the "French" and "Dutch" versions are only superficially different and that the actual firmware is the same. Both French and Dutch are available in the "Regional settings" on my UK model. Tim

Yes you are probably right -- probably the main diff between the French and Dutch packages is the language of the PC installation software. Can you confirm, though: you have a UK i600 that you updated to WM6, and you can choose different languages for the whole OS?

I installed package for norway or denmark (dont remember exactly)... In the regional settings menu under "language" tag is possible to choose: greek (in their alphabet), italiano, uk english, portugal, francais, suomi, russian (cyrilic), us english, espanol, dansk, nederlands, norsk, svenska, deutch Tomas
Guest Adam4U Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 I have a basic question...is it worth the troble to upgrade to WM6???.. The only reasom it seamed resonable to update was the Mobile Office, but Samsung killed that ;) Is there any other reason to take the troble for this upgrade? My SGH-i600 is working great, the only 2 problems I have is the Voice Assist which is a joke, and having a delay in incoming calls over BT. Anyone experienced any real improvement after upgrading to WM6??
Guest knights191 Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 I have an i600 running WM6 with i600UXXGG2 .. i read through this topic and was wondering if I can update my firmware of MY phone. Guest nazha Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 (edited) Question: I'm ready to double flash my i600 (ASGD1 > XXGD1 > UXXGD1), but when i start up bootloader on the botom of the screen the line 'Phone: active [off]' appears. Reading some story's in this threat about this line and i600's getting bricked, i was wondering if anyone who did a sucsesfull double flash had the same message. Any other ideas on this matter are more than welcom. I wouldn't like to turn my brand new i600 into a brick... Thanks. Edited September 24, 2007 by nazha

I changed my phone to netherlands (it is currently running i600XXGC4) & vodafone. Downloaded all software followed instructions (took microSD card out, but left tmobile SIM in). everytime I try and use the updater it says 'wrong software version'. I changed my phone location to Sweden and tried again, but no luck. Anyone know where I am going wrong ? rgds ****** STUPID ME, my download was corrupt. Guest kennethou Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 i bought the Samsung i600 yesterday as well. Am from Singapore and bought through Starhub. Anyway my phone came with WM6, the firmware version is i600UDXGH4. Seems like most versions on the net are xxGG4 for those with WM6. I am wondering why mine does not have the Card Wheel Interface. ANyone has any clues?
Guest ronitjandra Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 just bought mine, it's ver i600dxgh1, done installing activesyn4.5 and samsung modem driver ,i go straight w/ executing file i600UXXupdater.exe regardless my previous version, cause that's the conclusion i had from reading this thread from page 15 to the end (22), but the application keep warning incorrect software version, had tried unplug n plug, still didn't work, should i flash mine to XXGD1 first? then to WM6? and if i successfully flash using this steps, i600dxgh1 -> i600XXGD1 -> i600uxxgg2 (wm6), in the "Preconfiguration" , can still choose indonesia? (mine now has choices : default, malaysia, singapore, indonesia, thailand, philipine, vietnam), this become a question because the steps in this thread using sweden rom, although they said it's the same file updater.. anyone can help me...... thanks, roni

Also you might have issues with keyboard mapping. have you checked that your keyboard is the same as the vanilla EU one (look at pictures of the UK or Swedish i600s to be sure). The updater won't work unless the i600 is an approved euro version. look in previous threads on how to change it to be a netherlands phone if you still want to go ahead.
Guest kennethou Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 have you looked in the themes list ? I looked in Settings->Display->Home Screen , there is no Card Wheel option. When you say Themes, is the above what you mean, where can i locate the Theme option otherwise?
