Guest Pensive Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Which Tom Tom 5 are you trying? Tom Tom Mobile 5 works with Smartphones. For Windows Mobile 5 and higher (devices which have a QVGA display), you need to upgrade to 5.2 before installing it to your phone, or it won't display properly. To upgrade to 5.2, you apply the 5.2 update (download from here) to the TomTom files on your card via a card reader, then put into your phone. Some say to copy via ActiveSync, but TomTom don't advise this, and copying TT files via Activesync didn't work for me either on my previous device. I hope this helps muchos gracias paholman - I now have tom tom 5 running, asking me for an activation code..... ??
Guest Pensive Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 (edited) you can take any used or allready registered version, because you only need the software itself. ask a friend for a copy. then you buy the newest maps directly from tomtom and register with them. registration relates to the maps, not the software. no problem here for me, everything works fine. Okay, I have 5.2, installed, running, but it wants to activate the map.... I havent paid for the map yet. One question: If I have downloaded a torrent of 5.2, then buy a map form them, will it let me activate it? Another question: can you use v6 maps with V5.2? (of course) Let me explain - they dont sell a version of tom tom which will work properly on my phone - so i want to use 5.2 (which I read in this thread works nicely without fixes), but I'm happy to pay for the latest GB map......Can this be done? Alternatively, is there a working keygen available which will let me use an older map until they support the 650 with version 6 and the interface is patched properly? I would be happy to pay for it once it is actually available and effective. Edited June 14, 2007 by Pensive
Guest birdibird Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) TomTom 5.2 if you can't get pass the voice screen: make sure you have a textfile named CurrentMap.dat in \My Documents\TomTom contents of this textfile should be the location of your TomTom maps, e.g. \Storage Card\Benelux-Map  @Pensive: yes you can use newer maps with TomTom 5.2 Edited June 15, 2007 by birdibird

Guest Joost39 Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Yes - I got my PDA version of Tomtom 6 working on my HTC S710 with the navigator.cfg change of the COM-port for my GPS + the Fakecursor in the situations where I need the touchscreen.

Guest johnmil Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Hi again I have now managed to get TomTom Navigator 6 working on the E650. Simply went to http://spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com/ filled in the details Waited about 30 minutes Copied file from e-mail to phone Ran installer (cab file) Reinstalled TomTom Couldn't get other application unlocking methods to work, but this one worked just fine, just meant waiting for Orange to confirm the details. Just have to get used to which numbers do what when in the settings menu etc, but also assume these false cursors would also do the trick. Thanks for the help guys. I am due to get the SPVE650 next week. Is the installer cab on the TomTom 6 DVD somewhere, I cannot find it. What is its actual name? Thanks
Guest mmmp9mbb Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 TomTom 5.2 if you can't get pass the voice screen: make sure you have a textfile named CurrentMap.dat in \My Documents\TomTom contents of this textfile should be the location of your TomTom maps, e.g. \Storage Card\Benelux-Map :) @Pensive: yes you can use newer maps with TomTom 5.2 what do you mean by a text file? I have a GB map folder on my storage card but how do i do that? Also i am stuck on the voice page, but i cant choose a voice. It seems to be stuck on unusable voices? i try to change but it seems to freeze? HELP!!
Guest Villermois Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Bonjour J'ai installé tomtom 6.3 et 6.1 sur mon SPVe650 tout est ok sauf que je ne peux celectionne le por com dans tomtom meme vaec les bouton sy quelqu'un pouvais me donner l'asture cordialement loic 've currently got an SPV C600 running TomTom 5.200, does this verion of tomtom work fine on the 650? - are there any issues moving it over? - i guess i'll have to get tomtom to issue me a new unlock code.. what happens to tomtom if you slide the keyboard out? - does it change to landscape? does the newer tomtom 6 work on this phone?
Guest Prof. Yaffle Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I swapped Tomtom Mobile 5.2 from a C600 to a E650 without any problem. From what I can make out you can move it from one phone to another once without having to contact Tomtom. After that you need to contact them. If you slide the keyboard out it does nothing to the display and what's more the keyboard doesn't work well with Tomtom, you're better off using the number pad. I've not got Tomtom 6 but from what I've seen here Tomtom 6 can be made to work on the E650 using something called Fakecursor.
Guest mrgoolie Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 damn it!!!! i tried more than 10 versions of tomtom now with the benelux maps... none of them seems to work :P tomtom 5.2 tomtom 6 tomtom 6.020 ... sometimes the fakecursor doesn't work when i open tomtom, sometimes tomtom can't open any maps... can anybody pm me a GOOD version :) that really works? i have the newest benelux maps "TomTom.v675.1409.BE.NL.LU.Plus.Major.Roads.of.WE" and normally they work thanks!
Guest mrgoolie Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 oke i got a working version now of tomtom with benelux map that works... the only thing is that i cant change gps settings, so i isntalled fakecursor 1.05 but i cant open this when tomtom is open? i added a hardware key to it, but it wont accept it:(
Guest jgsquash Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 In need to some help here. Having read through this post it looks like a lot of people have got TTN6 running on the SPV E650. I've followed most of the steps here, but I just can't get TT to install on the phone. Here's where I've got to. The DVD installs TomTom HOME on the PC. I can then select to install stuff onto the storage card of the phone (either with the phone connected or the MicroSD card in a card reader). The only application available for this device is TomTom application for Pocket PC (I was hoping to find something for "Smartphone"). Anyway as that was the only option I try and install this. This basically takes :\app\ttn_pp_6.010.zip from the DVD and installs it onto the storage card. On the storage card I end up with a directory called :\2577 in which are the following files: AutoRun.exe autorun.exe-install autorun.exe-run ttn.cab ttn2003.cab This is where I get stuck. AutoRun.exe doesn't run either automatically or if I try to launch it manually. If I click on the .cab files then it attempts to install them, but the installer crashes on each of them, with little information. As a last resort I downloaded the Windows Mobile 6 standard emulater and pointed it at the storage card, this fails in the same way as the phone itself (I tried this as I thought the phone was still app locked, even though I have run the unlock and it appeared successful). Any ideas, I'm stuck for what to try next.
Guest jgsquash Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Got a little bit further thanks to: http://www.modaco.com/TomTom-6-HTC-S710-Blu-t257606.html but there's too many issues to say this is a "workable" solution :)
Guest jgsquash Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Got a little bit further thanks to: http://www.modaco.com/TomTom-6-HTC-S710-Blu-t257606.html Just to close this one off for me. Looks like the link above has been removed. In the end I did the following: 1. Found a utility (WinRAR) to unpack the cab files on the PC 2. Looked at the XML "install" file and manually renamed and copied the files the locations specificed 3. Installed Xbar3 and FakeCursor By doing all this I managed to install the version of TomTom6 that I'd bought (6.01) and had to properly activate the software (so it's all legal). Using Xbar3 and Fakecursor TomTom6 on the SPV E650 is actually pretty usuable, I now like it :-)
Guest jpeel Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) I recently tried to add a favorite by entering a GPS coordinate and using fakecursor to press numbers reults letters being entered into the coordinate field. Does anyone know of a workaround for this? I will try the activesync remote display, but one of the earlier posts mention it having similar problems. Any help would be appreciated. (BTW - I have version 6.010) UPDATE: I tried ActiveSync Remote Display and ran into the same problem. Does anyone know if you can manually update the favorties file (via hex editor or text editor) to add a favorite? Edited August 27, 2007 by jpeel
Guest Rosmalen Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 hi all! Can anyone tell me the directory where i have to put my map files?! I've installed TomTom 5.2 and I have the maps BE_NL_and_LU_plus_major_roads_of_WE but TomTom keeps asking for SELECT A MAP with the Download a map function.
Guest barfoo Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Hi, Everyone are talking about which version they are using - TomTom 6 or TomTom 5. I think that people talk to litle about map issues. Can anyone help me with this problem: I have managed to install both TomTom 6 and TomTom 5.2 on my Vox. There is however somthing strange with the maps. I want to use TomTom 5.2 on my Vox, because I don't like the 'fake cursor'. Both versions TT6 and TT5.2 work great on my Vox, but the maps don't work. When i start TT5.2 and want to load a map, there's a message that i need to "activate" the maps. But when I start TT6 and load the same maps, there is no problem. The maps just load without any problem. Does anyone know, why I have to activate the maps in 5.2, but not on TT6? Thanks..;)
Guest conan_troutman Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 not all maps are compatible with both so you may have to nuy new maps for 5.2 be very very carful when upgrading to latest maps too... had bought a upgrade that TomTom recomended i do as my old one was out of date (new roads being built and stuff)..well the new one was not compatable with my device 20 emails and the threat of taking them to court they finally refunded me my money.
Guest dyter Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 (edited) I tested all versions, the best solution is Xbar + Fakecursor + Tomtom 6.00: 6.00 => no backlight problem (power off registry at start, and on registry after quit) 6.10 => no backlight power gestion 6.20 => no backlight power gestion 6.22 => no backlight power gestion 6.30 => no backlight power gestion All versions don't work with up & down selection, you must use Fakecursor to select ! Tips: for configure your radars notifications, you can use mymobiler http://www.mymobiler.com to control your mobile faster via activesync ! Edited September 2, 2007 by dyter

I only ask tomtom mobile 5 would seem to be the best option if you can get a copy due to the OS of the vox Tomtom mobile 5 is an old version with old maps ! no work in landscape mode, no maps upgrades, and very slow at startup ... If you wan't use last versions of tomtom (>6.00), I make 2 auto-registry PowerTimerOn and PowerTimerOff (regedit must be installed) for solve tomtom backlight off problem and it's faster for launch than spWZTools !Tomtom_Backlight.zip
Guest Espensodal Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 i might be wrong, but a while ago i read a thread about this map issue. apparently, earlier versions og the v6 series do not work on ttn5.2, however, they changed the people making the maps for them or something like that, and supposedly all maps v6.60 and up works on ttn 5.2 im using ttn v5.20 myself, and it works like a dream with my bluetooth gps reciever.
Guest mpotat Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Hi, trying the workaround with TT6, Xbar & fakecursor on HTC VOX (SPV E650). As far as I am using TT everything is fine. When I close TT and go back to homescreen I cannot switch off fakecursor. Xbar does not respond to middle button, no other buttons, apart from dpad work. Wondering how are all you using TT6 with fakecursor on smartphone going back to normal device functionality. Now the only thing I can do is to remove the battery...
