Guest musicvan Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Hi, Thinking about jumping back into the land of SPV phones with the launch of the SPV E650, been waiting for an affordable wifi phone and this appears to be it? Currently using a Sony K800i with a library of AAC/m4a files and wondered if Windows Media Player 10 supports aac files on the SPV E650? I know there are other media players but want to check if WMP now supports aac...Using itunes agent software to sync k800i with itunes and it also works with other media cards (ie sd...). thanks,
Guest Montieous Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 (edited) Works on mine. And the sound quality is vastly better than the mp3's I have on. Not sure why though as the m4a bit rate is around 96kps and is comparable to the 192kbs mp3 I got on. Only problem though is the library doesn't detect the m4a songs, so no playlists. Guest th1rt3en Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 mine was able to find the m4a files fine, and add to playlists.. dunno why.
Guest Montieous Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 How are you doing it? I've now got media player to find the songs, but it puts them in the "all music" section all mixed up. If the only way to get them into a playlist is to put the songs you want onto the now playing list then save it as a playlist then it's still of no use to me, I have to many songs to sort into the correct albums

Is this on the HTC or SPV as I know the HTC phone has an additional Audio Manager app which states it supports aac/m4a files, windows media has always avoided aac/m4a (until the zune appeared!). I was hoping that the WMP on WM6 now supported aac directly? aac/m4a is a better file comp alg so much improved sound over mp3 for same bit rate..but its subjective! Thanks for info..
Guest Montieous Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Ive got the spv version. But for some reason it does have that audio manager in accessories, however it only detects mp3's. It doesn't even want to play aac files that one.
Guest Griff_FFOC Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 The E650 comes with Audio manager too, so you're not alone Montieous

There is a solution. Windows Media Player by default doesn't recognise ID tags on AAC files. You can use WMP on your desktop C with WMP Tag Support Extender (http://wmptagext.sourceforge.net/) to make a playlist and then sync it with your mobile. Works for e.
