Guest simba_1 Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 (edited) Is there still a headset profile on the Vox? On my 8310 I used the headset profile when connected to my carkit. Keylock was switched of, different ringtone volume and the backlight stayed on (using maniacs automatic keylock program). I installed the autokeylock but there's no headset profile you can use (there is also none in the settings->profiles). Is there an other way of getting a changed behaviour when connected to my carkit, or did they just take the this functionality out completely? Thanks Simba. Edited May 6, 2007 by simba_1
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 What profile gets activated when you plug in a headset? That should answer your question  P
Guest RSkillz Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Hmmm, I currently use a custom build 3.5mm adapter for my VoX so I can plugin my Sennheiser's, but the profile doesn't switch. Does it switch with the default headset? Never checked that actually
Guest KillBait! Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 there is no haedset profile on my S710, it stays on the same profile when i plug the supplied earphones in.
Guest simba_1 Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 there is no haedset profile on my S710, it stays on the same profile when i plug the supplied earphones in. The same is happening when connected to a bluetooth headset. You can see the 'headphone' Icon in the top bar, but there's no other profile selected. It just keeps on using the current profile. Does somebody knows if you can make a headset profile that will switch when needed?
Guest conan_troutman Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 ok first things first I am basing this on the QTEK 8310 but i have managed to add an extra profile to my phone called sleeping and my phone uses that at night. this is how I did it first take any profile from the profile menu ( aplication data>Profiles ) and copy to the PC rename it to headset.prof.xml now open it and edit the profile to look like this <characteristic type="Headset"><characteristic type="Registry"> <characteristic type="HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone"> <parm name="AutoAns" value="4"/> </characteristic> </characteristic> <characteristic type="Sounds"> <parm name="RingTypeAll" value="apw3r"/> </characteristic> <characteristic type="Registry"> <characteristic type="HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories"> <characteristic type="Ring"> <parm name="InitVol" value="3"/> </characteristic> <characteristic type="Alarm"> <parm name="Script" value="pw10pw10c110pw10c110pw30c110pw30c110pw30c110pw120c110pw300c110p"/> <parm name="InitVol" value="3"/> </characteristic> <characteristic type="Notification"> <parm name="Script" value="v0p"/> <parm name="InitVol" value="3"/> </characteristic> </characteristic> </characteristic> <characteristic type="Sounds"> <characteristic type="System"> <parm name="InitVol" value="5"/> </characteristic> </characteristic> </characteristic> this example is set to auroanswer in four seconds no vibrate facility except on notification and every thing is set to 3 except system sounds set to loud. you can edit the xml to your own needs. copy he xml to the profiles folder. next open a registry editor and go to HKCU\Control Panel\Profiles create a new KEY titled Headset inside this folder create a new KEY titled MsgItems Create STRING LocName value Headset create DWORD AutoOnly value 3080211 create DWORD Order value set it to the number you wish the profile to be if you have 5 existing profiles already the value should be 6 next open MsgItems create STRING 1 value HeadsetMsg reboot and hopefully that should work I would imagine if the headset icon is appearing in the icon bar then all other files needed are present. hope this works let us know

However, I could not select it. And it did not change when a headset/carkit was connected. I tried several settings, but maybe I do something wrong.. Is there somebody else that has an idea?
Guest conan_troutman Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 sorry it didn't work, it si after all the setting for WM5 I hope you get it sorted and i hope the s730 hasn't got them same issue.

I'm afraid that it is a wm6 'feature' I hope that there will be a program that can make it work. Maybe a new version of Automatic keylock..
Guest conan_troutman Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 do you reckon some at microsoft is having a laugh...with each OS upgrade the ability of the most basic functions seem to be removed, WM5 saw the removal of category filtering via AS which was present in WM2k3 now WM6 removes the Headset Profile which was available in WM5... personally I would like it explaining to me how its a "Feature" when its not even present. thanks Simba_1 for educating me the more I look at upgrading to the S730 when it surfaces the more i find WM5 to be more superior.

Does it switch with the default headset? Never checked that actually RSKillz, does your adapter work? I got one myself but when i plug it in audio still comes out of the phone speakers. When i plug in the supplied earphones they work ok though. Probably a defective adapter but having asked a couple of times on here I havent found anyone who has tried using an adapter for 3.5mm. Thanks
Guest RSkillz Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Sorry for my late reply (I switched back to my trusty P4350) but I followed THIS GUIDE to create the custom adapter and yes it works on both the VoX and the P4350  Please keep in mind that you loose the Mic ability, but that isn't a big thing for me. I have to say that if I get called the ringtone comes out of the headset AND the speaker, but it seems to be 'normal' as the default headset also does this by default (on the VoX and P4350) (...oddddd)

Guest jpeel Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 inside this folder create a new KEY titled MsgItems Create STRING LocName value Headset create DWORD AutoOnly value 3080211 create DWORD Order value set it to the number you wish the profile to be if you have 5 existing profiles already the value should be 6 next open MsgItems create STRING 1 value HeadsetMsg Does anyone know where this nnumber comes from? I found similar write ups on some german and chinese web sites and the AutoOnly value seems to be different for each person that posted. Unfortunately, I cant find any explanation of where the number comes from. My guess is that it is some kind of identifier for the headset hardware, but I cannot find anything to support my guess. Thanks for the write up. I have a new "headset" profile, but as of now it doesnt engage automatically and it doesnt have the autoaswer. I think if we can figure out the autoonly number's source we can fix the turning on automatically when a headset is connected.
Guest jpeel Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Conan_troutman can you search your registry and see if the 3080211 comes up anywhere else in the registry?
Guest conan_troutman Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 only place I can find is in the location you have mentioned above hope that helps you
Guest jpeel Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Anyone managed to get a automatic headset profile working? Conan_troutman: Outside of the registry do you see that number as a filename on your phone anywhere? Maybe in the \windows directory?
Guest Pr0sper Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Why don't you guys work with phoneAlarm? It offers 7 configurable profiles, and also automatic profile activation when a headset is connected. So everything's there for a headset profile. :)
