Guest SirGaz Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 Shaks Don't know if you want to take this further (maybe get some compensation), but if you want to, here is the best way to do it. Find out who the Chief Executive is of Orange and write a letter to Customer Services sending a copy direct to the Chief Exec. Mention in the letter that a copy has been sent also. Don't slag anybody off otherwise you'll get back only what you give, but explain the situation, mention the fact that O Customer Services have been very unhelpful and explain that they are saying that all SPVs are prone to crashing. Also put in somwthing about their call-back procedure. Do not say in theletter you will take it any further as threats get nowhere Most large companies pride themselves on Customer Services, and when a letter gets received by the Chief Exec saying how bad it is, things happen. Usually quickly as well. And is scares the cr@p out of the guy who opens the letter
Guest mashkhan Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 Couldn't you just say you "accidentally" dropped the phone and now it's not working.
Guest Shaks Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 Had the replacement phone for over 24 hours now. It's not yet crashed nor had any startup problems and it's running the same software. Orange said I would have the same lockup problem with the new phone as it's got the same software. I haven't yet installed any software on it just put my contacts & calendar back on and decerted it officially. The last few days of my old SPV I had done a hard reset, decerted put calendar and contacts back on and then not installed any programs and still got the lock ups so the only thing I've changed so far is the phone, not the battery, the sim card or any software. This currently points to the old phone definitely being faulty. If I don't have these problems with this phone during the week then I will ring & write to orange to complain especially about they're faulty diagnostics. Shaks
Guest xanadu Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Nice one Shaks  Great to hear you got your phone replaced. I am having the same problems that you were having with crashing and the Home screen lockup. I have previously called OCS many times only to be fobbed off with...oh that's normal..the SPV is supposed to do that ...attitude. I am going to try again to get a replacement now you say OCS are admitting there is a problem.
Guest Shaks Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Xanadu, Orange admit there is a problem but say there is no fix for it and a new phone is supposed to have the same problem. O only replaced my phone as it had a startup problem but insisted my new phone would have the same lockup problem in normal use. Don't know if O will do anything about it in that case. Good Luck Shaks
Guest xanadu Posted April 3, 2003 Report Posted April 3, 2003 Strangely my SPV hasn't locked up recently and the battery life has improved dramatically for no reason. The only thing different, is I am using the Union Jack background that I downloaded from Orange updates. But I have had problems with GPRS which remains very slow and sometimes not loading pages.
