Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 5) Back to computer and the de-cert site and ran the registration again. Once again I wasn't found in the database even though I registered with the exact same details as in 1) What am I doing wrong ?? This sounds strange, but I tried the same thing with a mate's SPV and I had to type the phone number *without* space in Action Register - who knows why? Give it a shot; if this works with yours then PM me and I'll add it to the original post...
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Acually, I didn't get confirmed the second time back either - i just resend the form, and it worked the second time for some reason - even though it took a while... Believe you, mate - the de-cert page seems to be a bit dodgily-coded; I even managed to get it into an infinite loop the other day, just displaying the Confirmation page gain and again when I pressed OK....
Guest Chris b.a.r.f.
Guest aGeS Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I wrote my number like this +4521 - that is with no space and I got the message. Gonna test if it really is unlocked now
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 I wrote my number like this +4521 - that is with no space and I got the message. Gonna test if it really is unlocked now OK - how did you write the number in the other fields? It seems different users are getting different results with various formats  (this is getting weird) As I said, if you get the message your SPV *is* unlocked - I've not yet heard otherwise.
Guest Tim Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 I have tried the Action Register method here with all sorts of variations on my number and still have never reeceived a message back unlocking the phone. Is anyone else still having problems or is it just me? I have not de-certed before and only ever applied the UK update.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 Tim: are you remembering to go online after running Action Register? Have you tried establishing a GPRS connection before running AR?
Guest robinbarnard Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks For spelling out out for us with those step by step instructions! The bit i was stuck on was the phone number... i typed +44(space)79xxxxxxxx and it worked! Without you i was stuck! Thanks a lot! And thanks for cross threading this topic, i was looking at DK decert before but wasn't sure what that was!! Sure i'll be back soon saying i busted my phone  Everyone here give Chris thanks for services above and beyond the call of duty! Kewl, man! ;)
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 :( heh, cheers Robin, you're welcome. Welcome to modaco. You'll find an amazing amount of people here who are prepared to help you when you bust your phone ;) I know I've done so, several times. Think I need to change the Subject of this thread though, as it seems it's not just danish users having problems...
Guest almark Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I cannot get this to work. My mobile number is recognised with my IMEI and I get to the last page. But nothing happens. Any ideas?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Okay, I just got my SPV (great toy!!!!) - and I saw all the sweet things you could add to it! I wanted to start of easy, and chose the FreeSpace program. But it gave an error message that my phone was locked. I read about it a little, and came across a guide that seemed PRETTY hard. Had to 'format' the phone, get an additional pin-code from Orange as well as other stuff that my lil noob brain couldn't comprehend. LUCKYLY I came here - and saw this guide - which seemed much easier! Now I logged onto the page, and entered my phone nummer and the IMEI number, I then received a message on my phone, saying that it was unlocked!? I tested the FreeSpace program, and what do you know, it works! WOoHOo - thx a lot! Is there a reason it was sooo easy for me? Have I only done half .. cause I didn't download anything .. or put anything on my phone ... !?!? *noob look*
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 MoRFLeZ: It seems that the majority of UK users haven't had problems. Quite why this is I'm not sure. As I stated at the start of this thread, if you get the PIE "unlocked" message then your phone is definately no longer app-cert enabled.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 almark: you're sure you're going online after running AR? I had a couple of false-starts due to this. Remember, if you're already online, you may need to break the connection and then establish another GPRS connection.
Guest almark Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I wish I had it so easy. I don't understand what I am doing wrong.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 almark: Know what you mean, I was pulling my hair out over it, hence my putting this guide up. Best thing you can do (if you can be arsed) would be to start afresh: uninstall Action Register and download it again. Failing that, a hard reset might clean out any dodgy registry entries that have been dropped by AR. Are you in the UK? What SIM are you using in your SPV?
Guest almark Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I am in the UK (Northern Ireland) I have an sim unlocked UK SPV with the UK update, and a 256MB SD Card. My name, mobile no. and IMEI are all reconised. I get as far as this page: My phone has a G symbol displayed. When i click on OK, I go back to the first page. I have disabled Zone Alrm, but still nothing seems to happen. I can access the Internet via GPRS. I can receive SMS text messages. I am sorry if I am being completely thick!!!
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 You're not being thick. Immediately after you come to the above screen, use the [End call] button to cut the GPRS connection, wait a few secs. then go and visit any website of your choosing. see what happens.
Guest almark Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Did that, nothing seemed to happen. Their didn't appear to be a call to end. I was able to access the internet as always, but no message about SPV Unlock! Chris, thanks for your help, but I'm knackered and so off to bed, my SPV needs charging anyway. I'll try again tomorrow! BTW I am using my orange sim
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 The server lost all posts from last night to sometime this afternoon GMT This has been mentioned in length in Off Topic, sorry I don't have the link at the moment.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 almark: OK, more or less the same problem I had - the process went fine (no error messages at all) yet no confirmation. Action Register needs to make a data call, sometimes it doesn't seem to do so (who knows why?). Before you start the decert process, go and visit any old website and leave the GPRS conection active. Then you can try running AR. This worked for me, at any rate.
Guest priccijr Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 I got it finally thanks for everyones help. This makes it a totally different phone now.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 nice one dude  How did you finally get it to work? might help others in the same situation...
