Guest markdotpeters5 Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Heh, just catching up on this topic Paul and was going to ask for a video :) The soapbox ones you did before were really good for evaluating the size. I would be particularly interested in seeing web browsing in action is it seems quite sluggish on my Hermes whether I use wifi / 3g. cheers! Mark
Guest Boudewijn_ Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 I have read this topic since post 1, now also a message :) In the link on page 37 to Bengalboy.com it seems like P4550 is changed to TyTN II as official name, Paul, what do you know of that? After use Google, another site use the same text and pictures: http://smartmobilegadgets.wordpress.com/20...bile-companion/
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Ooh, interesting... seems feasible, there's no reason why HTC can't choose whatever name they like even at this late stage :) P
Guest chingf0rd Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 I haven't... what is 'average use'? ;) :P P Ummm :) Ok, to re-phrase, how often are you re-charging the battery?
Guest Boudewijn_ Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 :) And it also looks like we found the Vodafone version: http://gcf.gsm.org/onlinecertification/ter...terminalId=1130
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Genius, nice one... posting in news! P
Guest xricex Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 is the vodafone version going to e different than the htc version like software wise or anything else?
Guest Boudewijn_ Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Genius, nice one... posting in news! P Nice one :)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 The Voda version will have it's own software build of course. I think we can be very comfortable from all the info out there now the screen on the Kaiser WON'T be like that of the Touch. P
Guest xricex Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 with all this new information im guessing the official release date for it will follow soon?
Guest AwJm Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 with all this new information im guessing the official release date for it will follow soon? I cant wait ... MY CreditCard is cleared and itching to order :)
Guest 3marco3 Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Source Please..... :) hey calm down, I said rumors ..... btw I read that in a forum by a guy connected with dangaard ( he gave right infos in the past )
Guest NuShrike Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 (edited) Ouch! I just cancelled my Pre-order with MobilePlanet. Ok, I knew up front that the price was high to begin with but I just got an e-mail that they will have to start charging sales tax in my state (as of Aug. 1st) so that would have added another $70.00+. If Paul's deal will pan out for us in the US, then of course, I can jump on that deal. If not, has anyone ever had any experience with Elite Electronics in Florida? They seem to offer the cheapest pre-order price of $799.95 (where MobilePlanet is now $864.95 + tax).MobilePlanet hasn't given me a response if they will drop the price on my pre-order from $879.xx now that they're advertising $864.xx. So is MobilePlanet(Expansys) the one to order from to get it almost first because of their long-time reputation, or Elite-Electronix is just as reliable and much cheaper at $799.xx w/o tax?  I'm asking about purchasing experience as well as support and service afterwards. Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 I'm trying to get launch info out of HTC, but they're tighter than a ducks, well, you know the saying :) P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 OK, so after a bit more digging, I think the device will be announced in Europe at least before the week is out... P
Guest moparman Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Are HTC always late to announce new phones ? Feels like im going to lose my mind if i must wait one more day before i can buy a Kaiser <_< I guess that i must wait much longer before operators have it ? Got to buy one from 3 <_<
Guest Kchrpm Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Heh, it's funny how people get so worked up about stuff. I know I'm guilty of it as well, even for stuff I can't even afford! In reality, if the Kaiser for some reason got delayed til next year or even cancelled, life would go on for all of us and we'd just be waiting for the next great phone that we can't wait for because it's so perfect (except compared to the phone that comes out 9 months after it! :) )
Guest Special2k3 Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 OK, so after a bit more digging, I think the device will be announced in Europe at least before the week is out... P *Hope* I hope you are right. The last "toy" i was waiting for so long was the nintendo wii. And then nintendo announced it and said i have to wait 3 month for the release. I hope HTC is not so cruel :P One more question: How much power does the gps take? Is it like the wlan a real "power eater"? Btw: The first thread over 10 pages which i have completely read :)  Special2k3
Guest moparman Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 (edited) Heh...I dont think i would survive that :) There always something better around the corner.Thats the price to pay if you want the best :-) Edit 57 users..Got to be some kind of record :-) Edited August 6, 2007 by moparman
Guest Harry3GTech Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 I'm trying to get launch info out of HTC, but they're tighter than a ducks, well, you know the saying :) P Excellent thread Paul. Thanks for keeping everyone updated on this great machine. If I may ask a tech question since I do not seem to find detailed specs on the issue: Does the Kaiser support the HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) specification? HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) is for sure supported
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 As requested, i've taken 6 pictures in various states of lighting on my Kaiser and C600, and posted below. All pictures on the Kaiser are taken in standard settings, full auto mode. The C600 pictures are taken in standard settings (latest Orange ROM), with auto mode for the first 4, and night mode for the last 2. All pictures are kaiser first, C600 second. All pictures are resized down for ease of posting... you get the idea :) The results surprised me! P
Guest lozzd Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 I never understood why people say "I can't be bothered to charge it every night". I sleep with my phone on my bed side table, with the charger. When I go to sleep, and it needs charging, I plug it in. If the kaiser needs charging once a day to power its amazing capabilties, that is what I will do. :)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Ditto, but it's also useful if I can go away for the weekend without needing to plug it in :) P I never understood why people say "I can't be bothered to charge it every night". Guest Troxelke Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 (edited) OK, so after a bit more digging, I think the device will be announced in Europe at least before the week is out... Thanks Paul, that sounds sweet....!! So we can get our hands on the "buy trigger" already! Reserved already some money :P Photos really look surprising indeed!! Where the C600 has tried to do the trick with just oversaturation, the P4550 is really sensitive enough to make a decent picture :) About the charging: I use the time that I sleep for charging! For weekends... yes... maybe a problem. But just buy another battery and ext. battery charger (like I did for my mpx220), solves the problem! Just consider what you get back as performance... requires some power ;) Edited August 6, 2007 by Troxelke
Guest Mike W Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 (edited) I thought this was the device I was waiting for BUT, it doesnt have TMC to enable routing software to avoid (UK) traffic jams... Is there any way to supply TMC to the device - Bluetooth, accessory etc like there is with some Garmin/Tom Tom devices etc where you can add a TMC antenna/receiver. I want a combined Phone/PDA/GPS(with TMC) onto which I can install Navigon (for routing, also includes TMC subs in UK) and Memory Map for walking map/chart use. The ETEN M700 was my hope as it has GPS & TMC but seems not to be compatible with Navigon. I would buy a TyTN II / P4550 if I could somehow get TMC as well... Any ideas?
