Cyberon Voice Speed Dial.

thanks. One more thing which I think alot of kaiser users havent tried/mentioned. Have you tried the wm6 native voip to see if it works with the internal hone speaker of the kaiser? You can get it here in my thread on xda

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...;highlight=voip

there are 2 cabs, the first one is the most used one

You can sign up for a free voip account at voipcheap.com . I am sure alot of people would like to know if voip works with the Tytn II/Kaiser

Thanks for all your info so far Paul

As with all devices, it uses the rear speaker.

Hi

As with all devices, it uses the rear speaker.

There must be a setting to change this behaviour, I couldn't find one though on the G900 and it seems a common issue.

Can you confirm the Kaiser has a trans-reflective screen, i.e. can be seen outside in sunshine?

Regards

Phil

Just put my Kaiser on the Kitchen scales - 192g with SIM and microSD :)

Tis strange how now a few sites are showing 160g's

Yours is now a full retail unit isnt it hardware wise Paul ...Just not software?

actually paul the native wm6 voip on the HTC Tytn uses the built in phone speaker and not the speakerphone. That is why I asked. The native wm6 voip is different from programs like sipgate and agephone and other sip programs for pocket pc in that it is integrated into the wm6 dialer and should work exactly like making a regular call does. And this is infact the case when it is installed on the HTC Tytn running a wm6 rtm rom

I was using the native VoIP client on the Toshiba G900. Even thought it was fully intergrated with the Today page and the phone dialer it still used the speaker and not the earpiece.

Now to be fair I had to add the WM6 VoIP software as Toshiba had removed it.

I expect it works correctly where the manufacturer has included it and taken the trouble to set up correctly to use the right hardware device, i.e. the earpiece.

Still waiting for Paul to confirm if the screen is trans-reflective or not :)

Phil

SIPgate is a SIP provider, not an application.

On my Hermes (with a ROM prior to the recent production release), it came out the speakerphone. Yes it was integrated into the dialer, yes I do know (occasionally) what i'm talking about :)

Don't think there will be any announcements until at least next week.... given that it is going to be weekend... We have to keep waiting..

Perhaps the ROM is not polished?

Compared to the Athena (X7500/X7501), well, what do you want compared? :)

Very different beasts...

P

I too am curious about how they compare. Amazon just shipped my X7501. I should have it in a few days. I'm really trying to decide between it and the Kaiser.

Here's what I'd like compared:

1) Generally (in other words, what strengths/weakness does each have and how does the other do in these areas?)

2) I'm really interested in the X7501 due to its large screen. I know it's a pain to carry, but do you see much of a difference in using these deivces for web & email? I played with a Tytn and thought I was going blind after trying to read the small fonts on it. I hope the Kaiser's are bigger.

3) Speed

4) Anything else that stands out.

Thanks!

Because T-Mo don't have a 3G network, and Sprint don't have a GSM network at all :)

P

Well either way, there's absolutely no 3G where I live to begin with :P , not to mention AT&T is murder with prices...

I think it's kind of obvious what the strengths and weaknesses of the two are: the X7501 gives up some portability for processing power, screen size and storage, and has a more limiting but roomier keyboard (I doubt there's any comfortable way to use while holding the device in your hands). Windows Mobile lets you adjust text size in the OS so you can easily make text bigger and zoom in with the programs that allow it, but then you're limited to how much you'll be able to fit on the screen.

I think the key question is how you actually plan on using the device. The Advantage would be great for working at a desk/table, and simple web browsing or playing media wherever, but you'll be struggling to type out a message on the go.

The Kaiser will be good in the work, web and media situations, just not as good as the X7501 because of the obvious physical limitations, but it will be much easier to type out messages/urls/etc away from a resting surface with the Kaiser.

Make your purchasing decision accordingly :) Personally I'm already trying to prepare myself for the loss of one-handed blind typing, so having to use an on-screen keyboard whenever I'm not at a table is a big red flag for me.

Another thing that's not mentioned too often, make sure you keep the X7501s keyboard away from your credit cards, the magnet inside will erase them!

Eh? :)

did they even try out the phone? or did they just give their oppinion and thoughts based on the facts?

they also say that due to its lack of flash its indoor pics are limited.

will it really?? damn that really sucks! i would imagine if someone was carring the device and keyboard around they would keep it in seperate pockets too.

i cant believe it would be that easy to erase a credit card.

Hi Paul

I've been following this thread with great interest and even though pretty much everything has come up I still have a question I need answered.

I usually work in noisy areas and need to crank the volume to max when using my current phone. How's the volume in the P4550 in comparison to other phones? I heard from someone that Pocket PCs/Smartphones usually don't have as high max level (volume) as other phones. Is this true?

Hi Paul,

I knew that the 4 GB Micro SDHC card is working fine with the Kaiser. But how about 8 GB Micro SDHC? :)

Thanks :P
