Guest gregersdk Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Hi All. New to posting here but not new to the forum. I've quite enjoyed reading along on this thread and (like the rest of you) I am also looking forward to getting my hands on a Kaiser of my own. I thought I'd spend a few minutes with google and see if I can help out on the recording question. Expansis sells an adaptor that might work for what you are trying to do: http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?partner=modaco&i=151762&asource=TYTN It works with the TyTN and I would expect it will work with the Kaiser. I have no idea how good the built in mic is. The one from Expansys is just an adapter for the sound with a mic on the adapter line... What I, and I think everybody else is interested in, is either an adapter for a 3.5 mic jack, or some wireless solution.. The last preferabily.. My reason of interest in this subject, is that I have to go to a lot of lectures the following year, and if I could record the spoken, that would give me great advance... The other link with making the adapter yourself is an option, but a Bluetooth microphone would be the optimal.
Guest FlangeArtist Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I'd be interested in a 'group buy with discount' for a HTC branded Kaiser, without a contract (Happy with my contract with T-Mobile, and not due to expire until January!)

Thats a cool idea...but who would handle the money and arrange delivery to each member? Also...Paul, I know this is a long shot...but do you reckon you could get some made into "MoDaCo" units? Like those C600's you did a while back. I think that would be KICK-ASS! Especially if the ROM was basically the HTC retail but with some MoDaCo logos and colour schemes?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 MoDaCo branded units would be very very very unlikely unless we could place a HUGE order! P
Guest FlangeArtist Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 How about setting up a survey to find out numbers of who would be interested in a group buy, and also who would be interested in a MoDaCo branded group buy?

I voted in your poll, but I think what Paul means by "HUGE order" is in the region of hundreds of units, if not thousands. Out of interest Paul, how did you get the C600's done? That was just a small batch right?

Out of interest Paul, how did you get the C600's done? That was just a small batch right? Worth a try though. I'm sure that financially an order or say 100 units could warant a good deal (100*£500 = one hell of a lot of money!)

Guest shaun1208 Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Here's a list of registered HTC Stockists, I don't know if it'll help, but it may be handy for some of us out there. http://www.europe.htc.com/products/stockists.html
Guest argh Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 they didnt disable the gps in the TyTN, they just didnt include an internal antena. Incorrect - they did disable it, as documented by Qualcomm, by connecting some of the GPS pins together. Feel free to read the gory details in the reverse engineering thread here. If they hadn't, people would have stuck their own antennas in the casing :) again i guess thats another "what-if" thing, but i mean terrorists can go to costco and buy a gps device there? whats the difference? They could also just get a high resolution map and get the coordinates for buildings to fly in to. Again, not much difference. I guess the FlightSim GPS change was a knee-jerk reaction to the "omgz! Terrorists everywhere!" outcry at the time. Not helped by a reporter showing that you could crash in to the twin towers in FlightSim. But I'm pretty sure that they won't disable GPS, it wouldn't make a worthwhile upgrade if they did that.
Guest AwJm Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I'm currently playing with the G900 (which I don't actually like much) prior to doing a comparison :) P Review time .. monday has passed

Guest Phil_UK Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Hi Or at this site: http://www.clove.co.uk Clove are saying their stock is due the first week of September, however I expect that to be more like the 9-12 September like everyone else now seems to be saying. These dates tie in with the FCC documentation that is being withheld until the 10 September, so it seems we have really known the date for a while. Regards Phil
Guest Special2k3 Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I've just called T-Mobile Germany asking for the release of the Vario III. The hotline woman said that it will be available in the 41 calendar week. This will be the second week of october. Long time :)  I hope HTC is a little bit faster.  Special2k3
Guest puiumeu Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Not sure if this has been covered already and applogise if it has; Will the Kaiser if it is released on Orange be able to support Line 2 fully or at all? I love my M3100 now it has WM6 on it but lack of line 2 means I have to swap to my N73 to use for outgoing.... (Diverted for incoming). Thanks in advance....
Guest Manni01 Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 (edited) Hi Clove are saying their stock is due the first week of September, however I expect that to be more like the 9-12 September like everyone else now seems to be saying. Don't believe Clove regarding stock. They lied to me pretending they had the g900 in stock and would ship immediately but they only did this because Expansys had some in stock. They then pretended my debit card couldn't go through (without calling me) until they actually got their stock in. I didn't apppreciate and cancelled my order. Glad I did as it means I can buy a Kaiser now... Edited August 15, 2007 by Manni01
Guest Chrome Blade Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Thats a cool idea...but who would handle the money and arrange delivery to each member? Well there would be 2 possibilities: Give the money to paul and let him take care of the delivery arrangement or Just pay the company we're buying it from and have them ship it to our individual homes.
Guest Phil_UK Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 (edited) Hi Don't believe Clove regarding stock. Glad I did as it means I can buy a Kaiser now... Their stock of G900 arrived the same time as Expansys on the Friday and had appeared as in-stock on their website before Expansys had updated to show in stock. However due to a postal strike Clove were not despatching anything on that Friday as they couldn't. Expansys were the opposite, telling me it had been despatched on the Friday when in fact it was sat in their warehouse until the following Monday afternoon when it was collected by the Royal Mail who had gone back to work. Reports from various G900 user's when it was first released show that those that ordered from Expansys and Clove first received deliveries on the Tuesday, so they both had stock, I think you were just unlucky. Expansys were suppose to email me to confirm I still wanted the product as it was a pre-order and I never received any email from them and they charged my card and sent it. I didn't even receive an email when I had registered, under a different email address, to be notified stock was in! Regards Phil Edited August 15, 2007 by Phil_UK
