Maybe HTC got so engrossed with the HTC Touch that They have completely forgotten that they even made this device, now that would be a worrying situation if it was to occur.

The HTC Touch was announced official by htc and it was in stores one day later. So it seems to be normal that htc doesn't make announces long before launch.

Here is the Touch press notice which said:

The HTC Touchâ„¢ will be available to customers across Europe and Asia this month, beginning today in the United Kingdom.

So perhaps we will soon see a press notice which says "Here is the Kaiser - You can buy it today" :)

Please HTC, please do that tomorrow! I have heard, what is keeping them so long, is that they have to correct all the errors, like with the TyTN.... Pretty bad, but hopefully we then get a device that works flawlessly...

My current contract (on O2) expires this friday and I was hoping to move to T-mobile (with PAC code) and get the Vario III.

LOL. You won't get sympathy here. My O2/XDA Wizard contract expired on April 27th, and I've been waiting since then for this damned device to break cover. :)

HTC P4550 is on ebay today. 1 available, bid at $800 US and 27 bids as of now. How did this guy get it so early?

ebay linky

I want this phone but I wouldn't pay that price since it has missing accessories.

As I think Paul had pointed out earlier in this topic - its moire than likely to be a pre production unit and probably hasn't got up to date ROM etc on board. Also I wouln't have thought you would get any warrenty either which for that sort of money is crazy - my advise is stay clear and wait for them to officially come out..

Man 65 pages of great info......but this long time Tytn/8525 WM6 user is holding out for the Htc Omni come January.....need bigger horizons than the Kaiser provides over the Hermes.

With the 1350 mAh battery is has up to 400 hours Standby

according to the German T-Mobil datasheet of the Vario-III

but only under optimized and minimized conditions.

How lang does it work with GPS-Navigation?

Is this HTC-Kaiser-battery the same 1350 mAh

item as at the HTC-Hermes-Vario-II?

Is so, the 1650 mAh Battery on Ebay may be a good choice.

Up to 488h standby (additional 4 days)?

Some reviewers compared both devices

(the P4550-Kaiser and the p450-Hermes).

Is there any Info on the battery form factor?

On Ebay I found the Kaiser three times in AUgust:

The battery is a different shape, it's a 'KAIS160' at 1350mAh.

What's that pic you posted? It looks like the T-Mo variant of the Kaiser (squared keypad) but in a darker colour.

Voda variant perhaps? :)

Thank you for the reply - yes it's an other Form-Faktor.

(HERM160, 35H00074-00M for the Hermes versus KAIS160, 35H00088-00M for the Kaiser)

Email from today: "Thanks for your enquiry for a Mugen Power Battery for your HTC P4550 Kaiser. At this moment, we do not have a battery for your device yet. Mugen Power is currently developing a high-performance battery for this model. As soon as we have any information about this model, we will forward this to you and display it on our website."

PS: The Photo was taken from one of Ebay-Links.

Guess it depends how good the internal antenna is. My Garmin streetpilot has its own antenna, but I got an external one because it kept losing signal.

Many cars get poor GPS reception due to metallic coatings to tint windows or heated screens. In areas of poor signal (Urban canyons or wooded ares) poor fixes result.

Yeah, that's right.. That is why the possibility for external antenna is such a good idea.. But when checking out the Kaiser, I noticed that there were 2 almost similar cords underneath the gray GPS rubberthingy at the back... Why 2? And what's the second one for?
