Seems strange to me that such big(? maybe just for us ;)) news for the mobile phone community would appear on some dutch sites only.

If there are an official statement made by HTC, it would end up all over the web...IMHO

Can people in the USA buy the product from one of the overseas vendors and hook it up on AT&T? I noticed that when you click "where to buy" on the HTC website it doesn't include any US vendors other than the carriers. Is there a particular vendor that people have used and found trustworthy? Thanks.

Yes, you can use any unlocked quadband GSM phone (like the Kaiser) purchased overseas in the US on any of the GSM carriers over here.

That engadget article reckons its set for an October release in the EU, so another 5-6 weeks before its out to buy...

check this link out:

Is it just me, or on the right hand side, does it list "TomTom navigation software" in the value added applications section?

Does this mean TomTom will be pre-loaded on the device/come bundled in the box with the unit itself? Are they serious? If so thats frickin' sweet...

It will be launched in partnership with leading operators across Europe from September, including Orange, T-Mobile, Telefonica Group and Vodafone, as well as direct, under the HTC brand.

Just a demo or 'taster' version; probably feature- or time-limited.

The product flyer thing actually has this printed on it too as well as the tomtom logo at the bottom right. I'm wndering if its a full version, that would be brilliant. After all, whats the point in having GPS in the unit if you cant use it to navigate out of the box right?

Either way, at least its "official" now and we can hope to get our hands on these things asap!!

About damned time!

Of course, i'd expect to read about it here rather than HTC actually bothering to send me a press release.

Does anyone have any idea what the differences are between the Value pack and the other TYTN II listed?

Expansys list the contents as follows: -

'Get a car charger, screen protectors, a 1GB MicroSD card, a case and spare styli for a special price when you buy this TyTN Value Pack!' - you normally get a spare stylus and a case (albeit crap one) with a standard package anyway.

Also Devicewire have theirs priced at £467.99 inc vat.

EDIT: Just noticed I replied to the wrong post  :D ;)

Ahh so thats the only difference...they seem to be adding to the site all the time....I dint spot that the first time.

Think ill still with my pre order of just the TYTN II....now estimated 10 days ;)

I wonder how long now before Orange, Voda and T-Mobile add it to their Coming Soon pages...
