Guest rebecker Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 I don't know whether this has been dealt with before, but I ask, because it is really important for me and my colleagues: Is it possible to disable the sound when opening the keyboard and tilting it? Is it possible to perform these actions without a sound? Yes. For ALL ;) the answers, go to http://www.htc.com/support/support_htctytnII.htm and choose the User Manual of your choice. -Bob-
Guest J273 Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 Ive just read the manual about the QuickGPS......does the kaiser have the same GPS chip as within the Trinity does anyone know? Thanks
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 No, it is the same as in the Artemis I believe. P
Guest J273 Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 No, it is the same as in the Artemis I believe. P Ahh ok......So is that classed as a better chip or not or are they both on par?......Ive never tried an Artemis but my trinity's GPS works a treat. Thanks
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 I would generally say it's slightly better than the Trinity. P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 (with the caveat there is an odd GPS bug I hope they fix in the final ROM) ;) P
Guest J273 Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 I would generally say it's slightly better than the Trinity. P Ahh thats good to know... That was one hell of a quick reply  .......1 second after id posted ;) thanks Paul
Guest bignaz2k Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 (with the caveat there is an odd GPS bug I hope they fix in the final ROM) P And what may that odd GPS bug be? (I apologize if you mentioned it somewhere before, but I don't think that is the case. Â But after 75pages and several months, who really knows ;) )
Guest Tones@ Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 (edited) Hi all, A new review is up here http://www.ADVERT LINK REMOVED.com/htmls/HTC-TyTN-I...iew-r_1803.html I've just read through this review, and I'm wondering why the TyTN II scored SO much lower in the graphics speed tests than the other three that it was compared to, here: http://www.ADVERT LINK REMOVED.com/htmls/HTC-TyTN-I...r_1803-p_6.html (wait for the graph to change a few times) I thought the Kaiser had a FASTER processor than the Wing and Touch, and a comparable one to the Mogul. Heck, the Mogul was almost TWICE as fast! What gives? Is this a mistake? If not, will this significantly affect video playback speed? Tony Edited August 30, 2007 by Tones@
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 The GPS bug seems to occur with some applications whereby the GPS 'data stream' will pause for a few seconds at a time, which makes some apps think the GPS has gone away (e.g. Google Maps) and other apps just update in sudden jumps rather than smoothly. Hopefully fixed before release! P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 I personally disregard any benchmarks on a non production ROM, and you probably should too! P
Guest gregersdk Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Just noticed, that the highest video resolution is QVGA... That's bad... Is there a possibility to upgrade this? VGA res and 30 fps would be niice...
Guest mortenandersen Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Question about using the Calendar application: For me and many others it's important to "go to [a spesific] date" in the future, perhaps two months in the future, to see whether one has free time for appointments on that day. When the Kaiser is opened up with the keyboard visible/available, is there a way to "jump to" a definitive future date by using some tabs or keys on the keyboard (not on the screen), or does one have to use the stylus (or finger) and use the touchscreen to make such a move? In everyday use this is an important way of using such a phone, and of course one also must have the possibility of talking in a call at the same time. One more question, now about making a call to a number not in contacts. Is it possible to make the keyboard available (Kaiser in the open position) and use the 1-9 keys there to dial the number, so that one not has to use the numbers on the screen? I cannot see that this has been covered anywhere, neither in the user manual. Hope that somebody can answer these questions! Thanks for a great forum! MA
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 You hit the right soft key, then hit 'o' to go to date. This pops up a little calendar box where you scroll through and pick your day. When you have the device open and hit the 'green' key to open the phone application, the numeric keypad numbers on the hardware keyboard are automatically enabled to dial a number. P
Guest florincostescu Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 GPS, memory, physical size, speed, tilting screen, rubberised keyboard with caps / FN lights, 3 megapixel decent camera, HSUPA... to name but a few. ;) P Paul, where did all the HSUPA has gone? The official HTC specs posted yesterday are clearly specifying 380kbs upload... Is your pre-serial model offering HSUPA for sure ?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Since no networks support it yet, who knows ;) P

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Er, he means for recording video. Maybe a third party app like CoolCamera will resolve this! P

P Thanks for very quick and clear answer. The only thing I still am uncertain about is the abovementioned "scrolling" the little calendar box. Do you need the stylus (or finger) to scroll? Or is there a key or a tab to do the scrolling? (As you certainly see, I wonder about how independent one CAN be of using the stylus or picking on the screen.) MA
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 You can scroll it with the arrow keys. You can completely go to another date without using the screen. In fact, you can do most things without touching the screen ;) P

In fact, you can do most things without touching the screen ;) P Really Great News, Paul! This is very important and practical. And with the ADDITIONAL or OPTIONAL possibility of rather using the stylus and screen, this seems to be a VERY good ergonomic device! In the Register review, they said that the qwerty keys were of the same size as the keys on the Nokia E90. I would hope that the keys and keyboard of the Kaiser are BETTER than the crampy keys (with bad tactile feedback, IMO) of the E90. Do you have any comparative experience? This is THE most informative forum for these matters! MA
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Funny, I used an E90 only yesterday. I guess the keys are about the same size. The keys are different tho, soft touch on the Kaiser and hard plastic on the E90. I didn't use it enough to really compare, but I thought the E90 keyboard was OK personally! I still want a device with a Psion series 5 keyboard ;) P

(I know this is the wrong thread, but do you know anything about when the OMNI is expected?) (You may even send me a PM.) I hope that the Kaiser's keys give better feedback (= feeling more definetively that you have pressed a key with the desired result!) than the E90 keys! MA
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 No more info about the Omni. I don't think we'll ever see a keyboard as good as the Psion 5 again, that said the Psion 5 was quite chunky (by today's standards)! P
Guest luis omar Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 take a look a these complete benchmark results seems that kaiser is faaaasthttp://www.solopalmari.com/recensioni-hardware/htc-tytn-ii-kaiser-il-benchmark-qui.-anteprima-asso.html
