Guest neilg Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 I am currently at work so I do not have the cable to try it out yet... <_< But wonder would this do the trick? \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\MITsMan\SWversion to i600UXXGD1 (or G Whatever your version is.) Use at your own risk, as I stated, I do not have the cable with me and I haven't tried it yet... seems to be uneditable field - whenever i try to write to it, it just pulls the old value from somewhere else so I can;t change it. Thanks for the suggestion though and if anyone else has any luck then would be interested to know!
Guest farooqm78 Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 OK have seen a bunch of posts elsewhere on this (including the unwired again - thanks Arne :-) ) Basically dutch phones have a software version (start>setings>7>7>5) that starts i600UXX. If your phone has this version you are laughing. If it stats with anythign else (like i600XXG) you are stuffed, although I am sure the XXG version will appear soon or else someone will work out a way to change the software version number on the phone or patch the updater if anyone is that desperate! I got my i600 from Dubai. The version is i600JPGE6. Is there a ROM update available for this version on the said sight. Will the UK ROM update work on that ?

I can edit this field and in the version it does show phone version i600UXXGC4 after the change (Of coz I will suggest, if machine is resetted, it should get back to org. setting i600XXGC4).... :)

Guest adiel Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Check last post here: http://www.modaco.com/Samsung-SGH-i600-Fir...177#entry834177 Mizzle confirms that he perfomed a sucsessful upgrade on Version XXGC2 and he heard that Version GD1 works as well. Could anyone else confirm?

I have a Dutch I600, it ran I600XXGC2 and I updated to WM6 without any problem. Imho the only problem occurs with branded firmwares. In Holland, both (operator)branded and unbranded I600 are for sale.

Wonder why they took the Netherlands software off the site?

Wonder why they took the Netherlands software off the site? No offense meant, off course... :) Any way, reading your story I wonder what error you see? Does it appear when you run the updater telling incorrect version or something? And yes... I was right on time. But it floats around the Internet now, I guess...

Guest Mizzle Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 no offense taken just jealous yours worked :P I suggest we talk on in the other topic... I'm getting dizzy switching :)
Guest project10 Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 I've got version i600XXGC2 bought unlocked from a UK dealer, but after the first day I killed it somehow, when I did a hard reset it all came back in Dutch, so what's the chances I'll be able to WM6 it? As they've kind of taken off the official Netherlands update maybe I should wait anyway if it's because it's been causing problems? As I've only had it less than a week and I've seen the horror stories of WM5 flashing I don't really want to turn it in to a brick just yet. :) Tony
Guest I600abc Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 If i download the UK one, would it work in the middle east well because i dont think they're going to release one!
Guest ricosuave Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Could we get some general feedback from users who have installed this ROM? I'm particularly interested to see if Skype 2.2 beta for smartphones works with this WM6 ROM? (download here)

Guest Hedrox Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Or you can just download directly using the following samsungmobile.com links (I hope mods won't mind, these are generic links on samsungmobile.com itself) http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i600/ActiveSync_Dutch_setup.msi (ActiveSync 4.5) http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i600/Samsung_..._modem_4.34.zip (Modem Driver) http://fus.samsungmobile.com/I600/i600UXXupdater.exe (WM6) I am still downloading so can't tell if this will install on non-netherland phones or if it has english language support. link to russian software same as dutch _http://fus.samsungmobile.com/I600/i600UXXupdater.exe
Guest bryanz Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 i installed the new wm6 on my samsung i600 phone yesteday and IT WORKS GREAT!!! i live in the u.s. and all i did was change the languate to english and i was on my way Please explain how did you do it exactly, step by step. Guest shadowvip Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 am going to post this in both threads regarding I600 Windows Mobile 6 updates. One of the members over on the XDA-Developer forums seems to have found a way past the version check. ***************WARNING***************** This rom is extracted from the samsung package, and then repackaged to work with any version. The author claims to have been excruciatingly careful about extracting things correctly, however, can be no guarantees. In addition, there is the possibility that this version released by samsung may not actually work on the devices it is not meant for. *************************************** Now that we have gotten past that, here is the link: http://rapidshare.com/files/46529602/i600_UXXGG2.rar.html I will add mirrors later if i have a chance. Anyone who decides to go ahead and give it a shot, please report back and let us all know how it went!
Guest maiaawa Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Had a talk with Samsung I600 support (UK), the information they have is - it‘s coming within a month. UK, France, Germany and a few other countries uses the same ROM update. Some of the mobile operators are not happy as they have to support these new features; exchange connectivity in particular. So curb your enthusiasm and wait rather then using some dodgy patch... Thinking of these hopeless mobile operators - Orange keeps popping up in my mind – according to them - fewer features in the OS is innovative; they don't have to support them, msn messenger was removed for the same reason. Now WM6 has exchange connectivity and who's going to support that!?)
