Guest muude Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 The only LucasArts game I've got is "Jedi Knight - Dark Forces"... It would be sooooo cool if someone could expand the PocketScumm to play it...
Guest chocobogo Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Can someone explain what files I need to download, Its seems a bit confusing on the other forum. Where is the installer. Where are the games? Cheers
Guest Arisme Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 1) Jedi Knight is not a Scumm game 2) No Warez discussion here

Guest conradg Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 I've dug out my copy of Monkey Island 1 and 2 on CD but having trouble getting it to run on my SPV. Could someone tell me the paths and folders needed on the storage card to get pocketSCUMM to find the game. I've tried creating a folder called monkey in the pocketSCUMM directory but still no good. Just getting the logo at the top of the screen. Wondering weather I got the right exe file, is it PocketSCUMM-112602-ARM?? Any help would be cool !!!!!
Guest Arisme Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 the proper version is http://arisme.free.fr/SPV/PocketScumm_SPV_030129.zip (need to update my web page but I want to do some regression tests on the regular version before )
Guest frijj2k Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 Monkey Island CD version has to go in a directory called "monkey" (I believe) under your PocketSCUMM directory. (Disk versions its "monkeyvga"). As for Monkey Island 2 its "monkey2" ;-) Check out this URL for all compatible games and there directories: http://www.scummvm.org/compatibility.php Have fun! Dave
Guest akarno Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 I have just come back from shopping at HMV. They have a special offer at the moment. Day Of The Tentacle + Sam & Max - both CD edition on a single CD for £7.99.
Guest Arisme Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 yes, a real bargain and working perfectly with ScummVM
Guest tony_spv_2003 Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 is it me or is the cursor really slow?
Guest Emad Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 really? May get that as have lost both cds. Doh ;)
Guest akarno Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 is it me or is the cursor really slow? Yes it is. Hopefully it will get fixed soon (hint hint  ).
Guest Arisme Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 it's faster if you keep the key pressed
Guest omar Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 when are you going to fix the cursor thing?? also can u add volume control in your next version..apart from that its running beautifully... ;)
Guest Arisme Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 When someone explains exactly what's the problem with the cursor (apart from the "non continuous" move when you keep a key pressed) - remember to use the "Zone key" to jump from the main screen to the verbs and to the inventory, it helps a lot and there's already a volume control dialog bundled with ScummVM, it's in the "options" panel when you want to load or save a game
Guest youngerpants Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I have 2 problems with ScummVM 1) I can remember most of the puzzles in the games I have 2) I keep remembering how cool they were and playing them on my laptop after barely starting them on my phone ah well, samnmax & dott back to the attic... where did i put monkey island
Guest akarno Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 When someone explains exactly what's the problem with the cursor (apart from the "non continuous" move when you keep a key pressed)Â  - remember to use the "Zone key" to jump from the main screen to the verbs and to the inventory, it helps a lot I think the main problem is that it is a little slow when you start moving it. It makes playing the game a bit laboured. I understand it is a difficult balance between speed and acuracy. Also, as you say, movment can be a bit jumpy. I have been using mainly Day Of The Tentacle.
Guest Scarfman007 Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 don't worry DJHope the mouse scroll isn't smooth just because I did something very simple ... it's not a speed issue and can be fixed by using a better method  There you are, it's not smooth- this is the greatest problem. Also it's a bit slow to start off when you're holding down a button to move it... IMHO I reckon putting the 'acceleration' and intial speed of the mouse pointer up would help solve this problem? We don't need accuracy when holding down the button (as someone is most likely to do this to move across *relatively* large screen distances ), and accuracy can be obtained easily by just tapping the required direction button. Guess it's 'cause we're using digital switches to emulate the action of a analogue mouse. How do you think it'll handle Curse of Monkey Island?? The graphics and sound on that are ACE! I can't wait for that someone to overclock the SPVs CPU... Keep up the great work! Chris
Guest Arisme Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Youngerpants, I like your bug report ;) Otherwise I'll see what I can do for the mouse controls (reducing the delay between the events should be enough to make it smoother) For Curse Of Monkey Island, don't set your hopes too high since I'm not even running it on the Pocket PC version (yet) and it's a 640x480 game which would make its text pretty much unreadable on the SPV screen
Guest dodgybob Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Me got Monkey island 1 and 2 running on mob... it runs ok... nothing special... sound is ok aswell... have been playing with the ini file... best way to play any of the games is to set the sound priority in the ini file to 6 and turn the SPV's volume to 0! The sound is very choppy and clicky... thats why you should turn the volume down... but the gameplay should be a lot smoother! Try removing any sound files aswell... This disables the speech... The main problem is that you can't turn off the ADLib emulation... however nice... its annoyingly slow! but what ive said here is just a small work around! Anyone else got suggestions?
Guest dodgybob Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 hehe... no i didn't... but after I made the post I found a link to the new one... I never really knew the new one existed coz Ive been away from the forum for a week or so... goes to show... how things can cahnge in the period of a week... Wonder if orange will catch on with this style of bug fixing... ACTUALLY USING USER COMMENTS... with a more friendly release schedule!!! Theres Dum, theres Dummer then theres Orange!
Guest liland Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Is there any way to get this games with out buying them? Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis, Indiana Jones and the last crusade, Monkey Island, Sam and Max, Hit the road
Guest cyclops Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 No, there is not. Legally anyway... You can download the demo of sam & max, i think.. Just try to find a cheap bundle of these games, they are worth it.
