Gmail for Windows Mobile Devices

I just picked up an HTC X7501 Advantage and I'm trying to find the best way to run Gmail on it. So far I've tried three methods:

1) running the web version on Pocket IE or Opera

2) the java app for gmail (http://www.google.com/mobile/mail/index.html)

3) Pocket Gmail (http://gmobile.phpmagazine.net/)

Of the three the java app crashes fairly often but seems to work the best when it runs. Pocket Gmail offers some options the others don't but doesn't look as good as the java app. the web version is probably the worst of the three.

I tried setting up Outlook to retrieve my gmail but it stopped after about 500 messages and only seemed to download the oldest ones. It also can't support threads (something I love).

How do other people run Gmail on Windows Mobile devices? Any ideas or suggestions?

Been so long since I used pocket Gmail, I forgot it existed!

I haven't bothered to get Java set up on my Axim so I still just use the GMails Html version. Gets the job done, but most of my emails are just check and delete.

When you set up Outlook, in the Username field (where you'd type "[email protected]", enter it as "recent:[email protected]". This will only bring up the newer headers. Works OK for me.

It's much easier than many think: you just download Jbed, an additional PPC hack and you're set. See my MIDlet Bible at http://www.modaco.com/content/Smartphone-G...a-MIDlet-Bible/ for more info

Does this also discuss differend javas? I have an HTC Advantage and the Gmail java app (the new one) doesn't work with the version of java on it. I'd like to try another one but I don't want to mess up my phone by removing the current install of java...
