Does rewriting the english ispm directory contents affect the gprs connections. Since installing the update I can't get onto the orange web site, email works o.k.

Unfortunately I didn't back up but have reset the connections as previous posts.

If rewriting the ipsm folder contents with the english versions does solve this problem would someone please email them to me?

I am unable to enable the simlock so I cannot unlock the certs

Also the sim card switch isn't working so I guess its back to the 3330 for me until Orange give me my unlocking code

With a little trepidation I installed the update last night ... and boy am I glad that I did !

The speed increase is amazing, and the signal strength indicator seems to have 'loosened up', and regularily goes up & down in fringe area's ! Only complaint was that although I carried out a IPSM backup on the supplied 8mb SD card - it didn't 'backup' - (left it for a good 2 hours as well) .... so had to manually re-enter the GPRS & MMS settings - but hey .... it was worth it !

The SMS/MMS/Email indicators still work (contrary to what other people have said) ... and the phone is generally faster & more responsive ! Restored everything (contacts/appointments etc) from Orange Backup using passthrough method. Orange Update also works fine !

So - my advice is - go for it ! You won't be sorry !

I really want to try this, but i'd rather be able to update the entire phone so i can reflash it back later, I haven't got a spare SD card though :/

Guess I'll just have to sit back and wait for the UK update, early nextr week apparently...

That's my experience too as a mad/brave UK user who installed the dansih upgrade last night. Here's my experience:-

1. My SPV is brand new, and although I haven't had trouble with bugs that some others have complained of, I still found it slow in places.

2. Performed the upgrade *without* backing up (very foolish).

3. Rebooted, turned the locale language back to English and all seems ok.

Good points so far:-

1. The phone is *much* quicker and feels responsive.

2. The signal indicator is at full all the time.

Bad points so far:-

1. Predictably I lost *all* my settings and had to re-enter them. Email, answerphone,SMS gateway info was all straightforward as it comes in the manual or is stuff you know anyway. GPRS isn't. I strongly advise anyone upgrading to note down *all* the GPRS/MMS/WAP connection settings under Programs>Settings>Data Connections manually so you can restore them. Also, if someone who hasn't upgraded could post theirs here it would be great. I still haven't been able to squeeze MMS settings ot of anyone.

2. Internet favorites are all defaulted to Orange Denmark pages, although this is easyish to sort out.

3. To get GPRS up and running again, go to Programs>Settings>Data Connections and click Menu and select Edit Connections. Select 4 (GPRS Connections) and select Internet GPRS. The settings for UK Orange should be:-

Connects to: The Internet

Access Point: orangeinternet

User Name: (leave blank)

Password: (leave blank)#

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

IP Address: (leave blank)

Click done and do the same for WAP GPRS too. I've found that this does bring back GPRS but have *no* idea if all the other settings for MMS, Proxy Connections and Dial-Up connections are correct. Can anyone post a complete list here?? Assuming this could be done, I don't see any reason why you couldn't bring an Orange UK phone patched with the Danish upgrade back to full working order...

Hope this helps!
