i was just wondering when the new TILT is coming out for AT&T because my plan is expiring in 2 weeks and i have to make a choice either get the 8525 or tilt (only if it comes out before the 14th). so does anybody know when its coming out because i went to my local AT&T store and they never even heard of AT&T tilt

You don't need to sign a new contract when you plan expires. You are grandfathered on that plan until you change it. The phone will be out within a week or so and you can get it then.

Since there's no hard news I thought I'd throw in another rumour to keep to going.

Engadget have some pics of the AT&T branding and lack of front facing camera and they speculate on a 30 Sep release based on a pre-order site.

Looks like a photoshop job to me based on the artifacts around the supposed AT&T branding at the bottom of the screen and you can still see where the front lens has been airbrushed out (there's a slightly darker grey circle still visible).

Just talked to an AT&T representative at the Chicago store. He basically told me the Tilt will be released as soon as they solve whatever problem it is that caused them to send them back to HTC. October is when he is expecting them and it will be a soft release with certain stores getting them before others. Also AT&T is disabling the front facing camera, which everybody already knew, as well as disabling the internal GPS. AT&T manager "You will need to purchase the Telenav service for GPS." From what I can tell T-Mobile will also release the Kaiser sometime before Christmas without the disabled capabilities. The guy in the T-mobile store knew more about the phone than the guy at the AT&T store here in Chicago. I might get the unlocked version and just use T-mobile's edge until they roll out the 3G here in Chicago which I know is in some sort of beta testing phase.

Was he for sure on the GPS being disabled?

i doubt it's really disabled, its probably disabled thru software, but if you use TomTom for something it will work. thats my guess.

btw that AT&T logo on that kaiser is photoshoped, it even said on Engadget something about the AT&T Logo on there not being accurate.

You are nuts if you believe anything anybody says at this point. Sales people at AT&T stores know absolutely NOTHING, and if they ARE telling you something, the source is probably all the same stupid blogs we've all been reading for the past 8 months. I can guarantee that this phone will have GPS - it would be ridiculous for AT&T to disable this feature, whereas eliminating the front camera DOES make sense since there is no current use in the USA.

So everyone relax about the release dates and feature set. Unless we here something OFFICIAL from AT&T themselves, just ignore everything you read. I'd guess that this will be out in October sometime, which is fine. I might go for the Sprint Vogue instead anyway. ;) And hey, isn't the Polaris also due sometime this year from AT&T with VGA, a compass and an FM radio? And a 3G iPhone soon with real GPS and 3rd party apps? Waiting is not all that bad - it gives you more choices. It'll be an interesting next 6 months.
