Guest CPhoenix
Guys, Perhaps someone can help me out here. I'm looking to replace my O2 Exec (HTC Universal) after feeling that I've got half a house brick in my pocket everytime I go out. I thought the Kaiser would be perfect as its smaller and carries better features (except that its got a slightly slower CPU & lower screen res). Then O2 dropped the bombshell that they will no longer be including 0845 numbers in my monthly free minutes (from the end of Sept). Unfortunately for me, I make a load of international calls to Japan everyday using Telediscounts 0845 number ;) My plan now is to buy a Kaiser on T-mobile's Web n' Walk Plus (3Gb Package) from PowerUP Mobile and use VoIP to make calls to Japan but I'm obviously concerned 1) if the Kaiser can support VoIP on the move and 2) Web n' Walk Plus will allow VoIP calls (The Register says it doesn't but CarPhoneWarehouse website says it does). Please can someone help me. Cheers CP
Guest WoD
I believe you can make VOIP calls through Web 'n' Walk Plus or even Web 'n' Walk but it is not explicitly allowed. If you can use Web 'n' Walk in Japan then there's no reason why you couldn't place VOIP calls on the move- to my knowledge anyway. You can, of course, always VOIP call through an available Wifi network.

Not a hope in hell I would ever get the Kaiser otherwise. Even people who aren't leaving have been able to get good deals.

I hope I get a reply soon as my bill date is the 25th and I don't want to go on for another month.

I'd strongly advise ringing Customer Services/Retentions; O2 , in common it seems with most big companies these days just don't respond to letters. Get it on record at least that you have a complaint, and make a note of the date/time of your call, and the name of the operator you speak to. Guest evad
I believe you can make VOIP calls through Web 'n' Walk Plus or even Web 'n' Walk but it is not explicitly allowed. Exactly. This IS possible, but officially not allowed by T&C, so they can take action if you're going to abuse it. Only W'n'W Max package allows placing VoIP calls over 3G. If you can use Web 'n' Walk in Japan then there's no reason why you couldn't place VOIP calls on the move- to my knowledge anyway. You can, of course, always VOIP call through an available Wifi network. VoIP in Kaiser works after installing cabs with VoIP application, but sound is going out of external speaker (loudspeaker), not earpiece - which makes whole VoIP experience a little bit rubbish. :( It used to work fine with Hermes... Guest evad
Damn, makes me wish I'd have renewed my contract in Feb instead of waiting for the kaiser :( Bugger! CarPhoneWarehouse are suggesting that VOIP is allowed on Web N Walk Plus Right... When it comes to T&C I prefer to get information straight from the source, rather than 3rd party resellers. Check this: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/uk/fairuse/ Flext + web'n'walk Plus plans Subject to connection to Flext + web 'n' walk Plus. Minimum term contract and credit check apply. Compatible laptop and handset required. Not applicable to connection via CSD. Subject to coverage. To ensure a high quality of service for all our customers, a fair use policy of 3GB (of data sent and received in the UK) per month applies. If you exceed 3GB per month, we may tell you to reduce your future use. If you again exceed 3GB per month, we may tell you that we are going to apply network protection controls, resulting in a reduced network speed for 14 days. If you exceed 3GB per month for a third time, we may tell you that we are going to apply further network protection controls, resulting in a reduced network speed until you upgrade your price plan to include a larger data allowance. We do not permit use of this service for internet phone calls. Roaming charges apply. Awww man, this sucks... and I was really looking forward to getting the Kaiser - Shirley there must be a way around this? I've no idea. :( My personal opinion is that VoIP feature built into WM6 is not quite final yet, and HTC decided not to include it by default in their devices. This is why you need to install unofficial cabs and face issues like sound coming from wrong speaker, and frankly - you can do very little about it. :( Hopefully this will change over time, and we will get proper VoIP support in our toys. For now, I'm using Nokia E61 for placing VoIP calls, and I must admit the way Nokia supports VoIP is just great! Windows Mobile platform still has a long way to go in some terms... Mine is years and years old and is an online contract. From the sounds of it, this should apply to everyone. It wasn't just sent out by SMS but also a letter too. ;) Suffice to say O2 can now shove their contracts up their rear end, they still made a mint out of me (even with the 0845 numbers included). Guest lozzd
Yeah I phoned them and they confirmed it applied to everyone. They really are going downhill. What with the "Unlimited" data contracts turning out to be pants as well, I think I will be going to T-Mobile. I didn't get the SMS or a letter, and the guy couldn't explain why.
