Guest varioIII-lover Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 agreed. in the box screenie protector is pants. aside from it attracting all the dust in the world before you put it on the screen .. bubbles up nicely too .. i smoothed mine down with a credit card. still pants tho. going to get a javoedge. should have come with a plastic knife to smooth the bubbles down or maybe some sharp scissors to etch my initials into the screen. ;) v3-L

I just ordered my Vario iii from 'Powerupmobile' on Flext £35 with Web b' Walk [12mth] new contract plan and £150 for the handset. Not sure if that is expensive, but well worth it I think. I should be expecting the delivery within the next couple of days. Has anyone else ordered from 'Powerupmobile' before? What courier (i.e./Parcelforce) fo they use? I'm hoping HTC will release the newly introduced virtual keyboard for this device too ;) JEz.

But please help me to see the light if I'm wrong.... I am NOT too impressed with the Vario III. The reasons being: - The internet connection is darned slow compared to my N95 - It's fiddly to use - eg you don't have a simple "create new text" option. You have to go the long way round to send a new text! - When the screen goes to sleep the only button that will wake it is the On button. Surely there has to be a way of allowing any button press to bring the screen up again?! - In Contacts, there's no way of just viewing the contacts on the phone. You also get your sim contacts on the list too - which is darned annoying. - In Contacts again, you are given Last Name, First Name. The only way to change this is to go into EACH and EVERY contact and change them individually. I'm sad but not that sad! - Camera is rubbish! - And to round all of this off - T-Mobile sent me a slightly scratched Vario. Unless you guys can convince me (please) that these are all minor, fixable problems, I have a nasty feeling this phone will be heading its way straight back to T-Mobile. Oh, I was so looking forward to this phone ;)

Guest varioIII-lover Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 agree with you on the going to sleep thing. i was opening and closing the keyboard to bring it out of sleep. new SMS? i might check that. what's the problem there? i just blick on the SMS butone. i am just sick of getting poked! i quite like the camera, it takes quite flattering pictures, if anyone's seen the camera on blackberry pearl, now that's really .. I got hold of a copy of the magazine for myself, phoned them up LOADS and the long and short of it was they called me a liar and said the minimum they charge is £110. Turns out there are two different copies of this magazine, mine is 30pages long and on page 19 is the info about VIII, theirs (the call centre) is 23 pages long and page 19 has nothing to do with the Vario III, infact they told me there is no info at all about the vario III in the mag at all; hence their accusations. I have just written a huge email to them and atatched photographic evidence of the magazine offer to see if it gets results. I will post it here is if works if people want. But it is a LONG rant letter lol I'm not that bothered about paying £70 for the handset, I was fine with that initially. The false advertising and insinuating I'm a liar is what prompted a complaint on my 1st day with T-Mobile. Happy Days lol AND I've not even seen my Vario yet LOL as it's probably sitting in some royal mail depot waiting for me to pick it up on my return from holiday :wub: Good times! Noticed some differences from the Vario1. It hasnt got Windows Messenger. Is there anywhere I can get this? Is there any way i can get the device to check my hotmail account for emails too?

Well they do have note about the offers in the guide on page 30 saying that these prices are for STORES only and that for other offers check online or phone customer services. I’ll just wait till it appears in their stores then ;)

I spoke to T-Mobile and the guy was aware of it and said the T-Mobile shop should honour it. However the shop I went into didn't have any in stock and when I asked them about it and showed them the magazine off their own shelf they said they had recieved an email about it this morning and they were just about to remove it. I should have grabbed a load then as I am pretty sure legally they have to supply it at the price advertised. I cannot see any small print (but that doesn't mean its not there) I am intrested to know how you get on with T-Mobile on this. I'm going to try my luck when the shops actually have the stock. If they have the magazine in stock I'll grab a load Just been in to Carphone Warehouse and enquired as to when they were receiving the Vario III. She said that it was being exclusively sold through T-Mobile. Having said that she did suggest me over to O2 claiming that they had a comparable data package. Something tells me she hasn't got a clue...
