For those connecting on a new connection, you can get a 20 quid credit on your account if you're introduced by a friend, your friend gets 20 quid on their account too if you quote their name and postcode.

I'm your friend, 'Paul O'Brien @ NR15 2BP'. ;)

You can get this if you call them back having just connected too.

This only applies to new connections and not upgrades - kudos to Craig for pointing this out!

P

I think there's a limit to the number of friends you can introduce (its either 5 or 5/mth I think), so if they refuse Paul as a friend you can use me

Here's a bit more on the refer a friend deal

http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/uk/recommend/

This is in the small print at the end

"Tip: You must switch to us by calling 0845 412 2425 so you're both eligible for the £20. This offer isn't valid if you sign up to T-Mobile online or in-store."

EDIT: They want to know the existing customer's phone number not their post code, PM me if you want me to refer you. There's a limt of 5 referrals per year so first come first served.

Paul,

Are you planning to be offering a Modaco new connections package with the Vario III soon, now that T-Mobile has launched the device?

I don't mind waiting, just a rough time scale if possible?

Cheers.

Made the 2nd phone call but this time, by missus (as it's easier than Typetalk!) and found out that if I called via Typetalk, it goes straight to Disability Services Team, who knows little on sales and refused to budge at all.

So with the missus calling, they offered £180 for the phone or if I switch to Flext 30, I can get the phone for £80. But Flext 30 is too much for me as I don't do voices. Then he said if I switch to Flext 25, I can get the phone for £100. Considering I paid £30 or £40 on Vario I (when it came out), it's still too much for me.

Then all of sudden, he said he can't offer it to me because I'm still in contract and asked me to call back in 2 weeks time. Oh well...

Bet that if I call back in 2 weeks time, it'll be out of stock.

Anyone got any tips?

woooo

just got of the phone to T-Mob business customer services....

me "please can i upgrade to a Vario III on my existing flext 25 + WnW Pro on a 12 month tariff" .... .

them.. "i'll just see if i can do that for you at no charge..... yes, we can"..... hoorah... winging its way to my door tomorrow morning... I have had two big ~£80-£100 bills but otherwise within bundle at £35 a month, so i didn't think i'd rank that highly for free upgrades... they didn't even try and push me to an 18 month tariff, and I reckon i would have coughed up up to £100 for the handset if it came to it!

I popped into a T-Mobile sotre at lunch - the guy laughed when I asked about the phone. he said they'd been told there was a press conference yesterday which they hadn't heard about and didn;t know when it was being released. He seemed a little shocked when I mentioned I knew of people who had already ordered it and received it from T-Moby over the Customer Services.

I've just got off the phone from Customer Services. Apparently there's "plenty in stock", so mine should be arriving tomorrow (please let it be grey, please let it be grey). £90 upgrade Flext 30 + web 'n' walk (18 month contract).

Having been reading about the beast for months and months and having been out of contract (Vario I) since May waiting for this to be release, I was planning on waiting to get it from a store. Fat chance of that happening having read that you lot have started getting them! ;)

Guys in stores are usually not very well informed, and moreover - they don't seem to actually follow the current market flow. Once after HTC Touch was officially announced by T-Mobile, I've visited Feltham (in London) store and asked guys when are they going to get Touch in stock. They knew completely NOTHING about it. They didn't even know what am I talking about. I just said you'll get it soon anyway, you'll see, and left the shop. Useless. Customer service quality in shops is the other issue. Once in Hounslow guys were so into chatting and laughing to each other, that didn't even bother about customers being in the shop at time. I felt like at the party, where I wasn't invited to. :(

Coming back to the topic - quick question to VIII owners: which OS and Radio ROM versions do you have?

Ordered mine now....

Just wondering - what accessories are included in the Vario III version:

- Tomtom trial?

- Mem card?

- Case?

Jon

No memory card, comes with a case, not sure if it has tomtom trial

Hmmm, lack of memory card is perhaps a bit stingy. Even a small one to allow some geeking around would have been better than nothing.

I had to go out for a few hours. The Vario III hadn't arrived so I called T-Mobile up. They put me through to the dispatch team who said my order was placed past the cut-off time for delivery today so I will be getting it before 1pm tomorrow. Oh the agony!!! ;)

I'm suprised t-mobile hasn't updated their website yet

They will probably be staggering the release of the handsets via different channels so then demand is structured and sales manageable. An indication of how popular T-Mobile believe the handset will be.

Something like this I would imagine:

Call Centre Sales > Website Sales > In-Store Sales

even still its like a bit of a dirty secret at the moment with the vario 3 tucked away right at the bottom of coming soon page while O2 proudly displays the iPhone on the homepage

Just had a play about on the "My Phone" page of "My Tmobile". I was able to select the Vario III as my phone, but no pics or manuals available on line as yet, and when I click on "configure phone" it remembers my MDA PRO. ;)

The thing is they are selling them fast to early adopters such as all of us here who have ordered it. Why do they need to advertise a specialist phone that is selling itself. O2 have to advertise the iPhone. They need to sell lots of them to make money on their deal with Apple.

To be honest anyone who knows their stuff already knows about the Vario III.

Apple's products seem to benefit from this "Must Have" type marketing, telling you that if you don't get their product, your not "hip" and "with it"

HTC are incredibly understated, and that gains the respect from professional people who understand that when a product can speak for itself, it doesn't need to be thrown at you 24/7 for you to buy one.

FOllowing my post earlier today and seeing the vast range of deal going i twigged that the guy on the phone was so chatty we did not acually dicuss the cost of the phone... oopps

Back on the phone i go... only to find out....

1) Am still on Flex 35

2) I still have Web 'n' Walk Plus

3) Phone was free

What a result. No change to my monthly contract with a new phone.
