Guest Mr.Clark
Most of the posts I've read with people getting the Kaiser or Vario III or v1615, it's with expensive £30+ per month plans. I can't afford (and won't take full advantage of) such plans and I suspect there are others like me lurking somewhere. Hence this post. This is a probably-not-complete round-up of the Kaiser on sub £30 price plans. Vodafone - v1615 £20 per month - £100 for the phone - 18 month plan What you get: 75 anytime minutes 250 texts There is an optional data pack, which costs £7.50 per month and gives you 120mb. Anything over that costs £1 per day for the first 15 meg (in that day) then £2 per meg after that. (If I've explained that properly. Look it up on their site if not) Total cost of ownership: £595 (that's for an 18 month plan) They will reduce the cost of the phone to £80 if you up that to a £25 per month contract, but with data as well, that takes it out of my budget. T-Mobile - Vario III £22.50 per month - £169.99 for the phone - 18 month plan What you get: £34 allowance to spend on texts and calls. They reckon this is 170 minutes or 340 texts, but you divvy them up however you want. Total Cost of Ownership: £574.99 £27.50 per month - £149.99 for the phone - 18 month plan What you get: £60 allowance to spend on texts and calls. They reckon this is 300 minutes or 600 texts, but you divvy them up however you want. Total Cost of Ownership: £644.99 or £27.50 per month - £209.99 for the phone - only a 12 month plan What you get: £40 allowance to spend on calls and texts. That's 200 minutes or 400 texts, again, however you use that amount. Total Cost of Ownership: £539.99 All of these prices include Web'n'Walk, which gives you 1Gb data per month. Orange - Unconfirmed release date, should be by the end of November as the HTC TyTN II £20 per month gets you 75 mins and 200 texts £25 gets you either 150 mins and 300 texts or 225 mins and 100 texts All of these on an 18 month contract. A 12 month contract gets you approx 1/3 less. I can't find (quickly) anything about their data packages, but they're not supposed to be very good. O2 - Unconfirmed release data, "before December" as the XDA Stellar For £20 per month, O2 offer either 125 mins and 50 texts or 50mins and 200 texts. (18 month contract) They have a data bolt-on for £7.50 which gives you 200mb per month. They do not have the Kaiser available yet! (this is important! ;)) I think it's clear that I'm currently getting fleeced by O2. The best deal over the course of the contract looks like T-Mobile's 12-month Web'n'Walk deal, especially if they can be negotiated down on the initial handset cost (unlikely) I hope this has helped people who, like me, use their phones but don't spend a fortune on them every month. If there's anything I can do to improve this, let me know!

Guest chilledatthebottom
Worth mentioning also on the T-Mobile tariffs that they also offer a "Refer a Friend" deal, where you both get £20 off your bills (subject to a maximum of 5 referalls a year)... So, if you're looking at taking up a T-Mobile contract, and want £20 off, PM me for my mobile number to quote when taking out a contract and we'll both be £20 better off ;)
Guest unclesomebody
If you're really a skinflint then you won't take up any of these plans. What you will do is find a cashback deal on t-mobile, one of these redemption jobs. You'll get one with the best phone you can find for free (usually not very good, but persevere). You will then sign up for a 12 month contract, sell the phone you receive for approx £100 and then you will order a sim free HTC unit for approx £430. Take off the £100 you made selling the contract phone, and now your total contract cost for one year will be £330 and this will be on a decent tariff with plenty of minutes/texts/data. Hope that makes sense. It might be a bit of work, but the best things in life aren't free!
Guest Helix
Orange have just pulled out all the stops out for me this year in their Retentions team. I've just had £15 knocked off my bill every month for the entire period of the contract if I upgrade. This is what I've been offered: 500 Mins Anytime/Any Network 500 Txts 30 Meg @ £8 FOR £18 A MONTH!! That gives me spare £ to add more data if I need to. I actually feel that it may of been worthwhile to stick with Orange and not jump ship. Edited October 5, 2007 by Helix
Guest CPhoenix
£27.50 per month - £209.99 for the phone - only a 12 month plan What you get: £40 allowance to spend on calls and texts. If you guys can wait until they put the Vario III on the website... Use your quidco account to receive a £40 rebate thus.. £169.99 for the phone Total Cost of Ownership: £499.99 (I've just ordered my Vario III on 18month contract over the phone... looks like I'll be canceling it when I get home and wait for it to be published online). Guest Confucious
30 Meg @ £8 FOR £18 A MONTH!! That gives me spare £ to add more data if I need to. I actually feel that it may of been worthwhile to stick with Orange and not jump ship. I use 400 -500 Mbper month - what is it O charge above your limit? £1/Mb (I could be wrong) but at that rate my bill would be £18 +£400-30 = £388 for a low use month. Hmmm What's the point of owning a device like this when you are restricted on data use? Hubdog, vtap and a bit of browsing will eat your allowance. Guest knonist
or you can get the sim free phone for about 450 quid (or less in ebay), then sign up to one of these 12 months free contract which some of those give you 800mins on all networks. http://www.signamobile.co.uk/display.asp?s...mp;gift=12mfree
