Guest Dr Who Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 I had mine set to store attachements on the storage card, which rarely comes out of my device. Anyway, I changed the settings to store attachments on the main memory and then emptied all deleted items. Did a send/receive for all accounts and then soft reset. Tried to download my Gmail account - but still no message body ;) Changed the settings back to save attachments on storage card, did a soft reset. Again tried to pick up Gmail, no dice. I've got the full version of Sprite backup - but I don't have the confidence that it will restore properly if I have to hard reset. And, it might restore the problem that is causing this behaviour..D'oh!! Keep thinking bro... :( FrankyG Hmmmm, found what I was thinking of but not sure it is the same problem you are experiencing. Sorry. http://www.modaco.com/content/Pocket-PC-Ge...on-attachments/
Guest austinmitchell Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Now we only need a fool-proof sync between handheld calendar and Google calendar and things really start to look good! Martin There are two available: oggsync and goosync. I personally use oggsync available from oggsync.com Austin.

Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 QUESTION: Why does it sync a Gmail (or whatever you named it) sub-folder with gmails own seperate duplicated sync'd folders? Gmail >>[Gmail] >>>Drafts >>>Trash >>>etc Inbox Sent Mail Outbox etc Why doesn't it just sync with the integrated folders on WM? Why arent all of the folders under the Phone's account folder GMAIL? Gmail >>Inbox >>Outbox >>Drafts >>Trash >>Spam etc I dont want 2 drafts folders, nor two trash folders, etc. Wish it would work exactly like the integrated mail folders on my phone, syncing the extra folders and mails under the appropriate folders.

Thats just the way IMAP is, isn't it? The folders are not local per se, you are just seeing what is stored on the remote server.
Guest martin01 Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Anyone knows if you can archieve (move to gmail's archieve) from a PPC client sync'ed with IMAP? M
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 I think if you move the message to 'All Mail' that is the equivalent of archiving it? P
Guest martin01 Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 (edited) Yep - same for me. There is, however, the starred folder so for now I just move them there and then "mass-archieve" the contents of the starred folder next time I'm on gmail per se. Edit: hehe - my original answer was to the first version of your reply. Hmm - could be the All Mail works ... will give it a go. Edit v2: Yep - All Mail seems to do the job. Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Sorry about that, I clearly didn't change it quick enough ;) P

I'm guessing that the 'All mail' folder corresponds to the standard view when logged into Gmail whereby you can see the threads of email and the 'sent' & 'inbox' folders are the same things seperated?? Though I'm not so sure as when I've checked the number of emails in both the All mail folder seems to have loads more emails than the inbox folder.... which is worth synching for a better view... by the way I'm asking regards my PC and moby. many thanks Saif
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 All Mail = All mail including archived, I think the rest are self explanatory? P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 The inbox in the root of the account is equivalent to the default inbox you see when you sign in to GMail... P
Guest pugzi Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 Paul, Excuse me for being a chump, but I have Google mail working with my pocket outlook, i.e. the messages application in WM6. It's POP and gets me my gmail messages no problem. Why or what would I need to rejoice about IMAP. Please reply kindly, I am not tech savy. I didn't like the Gmail app because I can do all i want in Messages.
Guest dan13l Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 This is frustrating: I've got access to a total of four Gmail accounts: My current one A test Google Apps account for me company A Google Apps account for an online magazine A new Google Apps Premium account that I'm moving my standard Gmail across to. Of the four, the two I don't really use have got IMAP (the test one, and the magazine) while the two I actually want to use haven't been enabled! Grr... Oh well, patience is a virtue and all that.
Guest FrankyG Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 No one else experienced the problem of the message body text not showing up, as I reported earlier in this topic <_< Makes Gmail IMAP...well...totally useless for me if I can't sort this problem :-( Cheers, FrankyG

Guest champsak Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 Hello, Thank you for your report. We haven't been able to test IMAP access with your mail client yet, but we're working to make our service compatible with as many mail clients as possible. We look forward to announcing additional compatibilities in the future. You can find the latest information on IMAP access in the Gmail Help Center. Just click 'Help' at the top of your Gmail account. Sincerely, The Google Team
Guest ceanth Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 Hi all, im very new to all this so i have a question. At present i am using POP3 with google on my universal (actually just set this up today!) so what advantages are there of using IMAP? Also what does IMAP even mean? Thanks
Guest Alex (nedge2k) Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 W00t, been wanting this for a while! ;) EDIT: doesn't seem to be available for google hosted users :(
Guest Lazydonkey Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 Hi all, im very new to all this so i have a question. At present i am using POP3 with google on my universal (actually just set this up today!) so what advantages are there of using IMAP? Also what does IMAP even mean? Thanks It's a benefit if you are using your pDA / mobile AND your home pc to check googlemail and don't wnat to always use the web browser. If you use POP and set Googlemail up to delete / archive when you access using pop then you have to use the webclient when checking on pda / mobile. Using IMAP basically means it's the same as using a blackberry / wimdows mobile and exchange server. YOu mark email as read on any of your two machines and it marks it as read on google mail. You send using your PC and it syncs it with your webmail account etc etc etc etc Not using it myself just yet - but this would seem to be the solution to having to use mobile webmail to access google (which just isn't as nice and i'd like)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 I wonder if it supports IMAP IDLE for 'push' like functionality? P
Guest ceanth Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 ok changed the settings but im not sure where exactly this imap setting is <_
