Guest Mr_Gee Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 No one else experienced the problem of the message body text not showing up, as I reported earlier in this topic <_< Makes Gmail IMAP...well...totally useless for me if I can't sort this problem :-( Cheers, FrankyG No worries, your not the only one with this issue, me too ;-) With a MDA Vario 3. I tried to change my setup from pop.gmail.com to imap, but that didn't work so i created a new account and had the phone search for the settings automatically, apparently the program picks "pop" as server type wich isn't correct So did it again manually, now i have the extra [gmail] folder but no email body.. I hope someone does come up with a solution because it is indeed useless like this <_<
Guest Webreaper Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Yep, the blank mail thing renders it useless. I've gone back to POP.
Guest yoda6 Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 For anyone still having trouble seeing the IMAP settings option on their Gmail account, what finally worked for me was setting the language to US english AND disabling forwarding to another account AND switching from using the secure SSL gmail access https://mail.google.com/mail to regular www.gmail.com. Finally the IMAP settings appeared! Still getting this issue with no body in the emails I receive though. Bum.

But when i look at them in the web app they work fine. Grrrrr
Guest Mr.Clark Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Have a look here you can report the issue to Google. Not sure if everyone doing that will make a difference, however.
Guest NuShrike Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 (edited) I wonder if it supports IMAP IDLE for 'push' like functionality?Google supports IDLE it seems, but Pocket Outlook doesn't. I'll try FlexMail 2007 sometime which does support this Lemonade Profile. For those of you who haven't searched yet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imap#Advantages_over_POP3 Currently, I do get new emails into my IMAP Inbox in PO, but All Mail and other folders seem particularly empty. Works fine in Thunderbird, where I've been reading my normal IMAP mail off Best.com, for forever. I tried "Manage Folders", and that seems to be grabbing the tagged folders I mark now too. Now if only PO does threaded view. Edited November 8, 2007 by NuShrike

Guest Mr.Clark Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Hey... it looks like this might actually be fixed! IMAP working properly on Google? Hurrah! :)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Yup, seems to be working for me! Hurrah indeed! :) P
Guest gs_london Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 It's a benefit if you are using your pDA / mobile AND your home pc to check googlemail and don't wnat to always use the web browser. If you use POP and set Googlemail up to delete / archive when you access using pop then you have to use the webclient when checking on pda / mobile. Using IMAP basically means it's the same as using a blackberry / wimdows mobile and exchange server. YOu mark email as read on any of your two machines and it marks it as read on google mail. You send using your PC and it syncs it with your webmail account etc etc etc etc Not using it myself just yet - but this would seem to be the solution to having to use mobile webmail to access google (which just isn't as nice and i'd like) I am not the only one who doesn't get the advantages of IMAP over POP3? The above post is blatantly wrong I NEVER have had to access my gmail through a browser on my HERMES or KAISER I just set the pop3 access and use the built in mail client in Windows Mobile(5 and 6). Ideally I'd like my mail delivered as it arrives to the server but the send / receive menu item isn't that hard to click when you want to check email. So for us confused who haven't quite got wildly excited about it's arrival can someone explain in clear English what the advantage is? Unless it can deliver mail to my phone as it arrives I just don't get it. Thanks in advance.

It means that your email and folders are synched between all devices, ie your mail checked on your pda, outlook or other desktop client and the web mail. meaning if you read it, open it on one, it will automatically be shown as open on the others. deleting on one will delete off the others. what I cannot get to work is appointments from outlook sent to a gmail account to be able to accept decline etc from the wm6 device
Guest madferret Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 deleting on one will delete off the others. I agree with your comments about IMAP being superior to POP, but I don't like the way Gmail handles deletions from my phone. If I delete something from my PC's outlook inbox then the mail gets archived. If I do the same from my phone's inbox the mail gets put into a 'IMAP/Deleted Items' folder in Gmail. But I do like the other features of IMAP. It is helpful when I look at mail on my PC to know which ones I have already opened, which doesn't always happen with POP.
