Guest aldino Posted November 8, 2007 Report Share Posted November 8, 2007 Hey guys, just wondering if anyone with a Kaiser has had to go straight to HTC for any warranty purposes to get a replacement or whatever, and did you need any receipts/proof of purchases etc, or was it based solely on the IMEI number? I'm thinking of approaching them to see if I can get the HTC battery cover (which is not glossy/shiny/slidy/fingerprinty like the one supplied with the Vodafone branded handset). Going straight to HTC may, I suspect, result in longer time without a handset than going through the network. Certainly when my last HTC unit failed 16 months into an 18 month contract, T-Mobile simply sent out a new boxed replacement unit that was obviously on a shelf somewhere. Your Serial Number will look something like HT740, with the 7 relating to 2007 and the 40 relating to week 40 = when the device was made. If there is no POP, they will use this to determine warranty status. You get 15months post this date. It's always best to go via your POP to resolve any issues with your handset, but HTC are willing and capable of servicing any handset (other than o2 who use ANovo) under manufacturers warranty. Good to know. My handset is HTC branded but was a birthday present from the Missus. After a year you still call your dealer and they will forard it to HTC for repair or replacement under the HTC warranty. If you live within the EU then you qualify for the europian extended warranty that states an electronic device should have a minimum life expectancy of upto 6 years. HTC have to abide by the Europian trade standards if the device was purchased within Europe. Although wiht my experience with this new law its touch and go with companies accepting it and they try to fight it tooth and claw, but if you stick with it you are within your rights to claim under the Europian trade standards. They even honoured the prerelease 'estimated' cost of the IIi, which turned out to be rather lower than the actual release price; I had reserved one, but no contract had been entered into. Guest aldino Posted November 12, 2007 Report Share Posted November 12, 2007 right well called expansys they dont price match for the tytn 2 - their loss ! called devicewire they dont have the tytn 2 in stock until Nov 23rd - pass! called mobilefun - told them its £5 cheaper at handec, and also told them would need to be sent to a different address then my billing address. guy was very helpful, said would call me back at 4pm, to tell me if its possible to send to my university instead! and if i can have the £5 off the price! all things going well should have it for £419 + del from mobilefun and get it tomorrow, just gota wait till 4pm now Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

UK law in practice provides better protection for consumers than the two-year minimum required by the EU - consumers are able to pursue relevant claims for up to six years (five in Scotland)." Note, this is not a 6 year guarantee - but simply that the consumer has 6 years to pursue claims for compensation through the courts. Telling me they will call me at 4pm, then not calling. Calling them again at 4.30pm, telling me again i would be called back by 6pm so I can get the order tomorrow, not calling back again. Calling them again this morning to be once again told I would be called back is not acceptable in my book, definately didnt try at all to help me out, their loss not mine I got mine from Hantec.
