Using a Samsung i600 purchased in Singapore in the US

Hi Guys

I purchased my Samsung i600 in Singapore and was using it there

I am now in the US and brought the same phone along.

Here is what I have been able to do and here are where I am having some issues. It would be great to hear if anyone on this forum has had any similar experience of bringing a phone from outside the US

Signed for ATT service. They had no issues with me using what they called an unlocked phone from overseas. They gave me a 3G SIM card. I am able to use the phone and SMS text messaging. However I am unable to yet get a 3G signal in the SF Bay area. Also even though I am not roaming, the roaming icon shows up

I also have a GPRS connection and am able to access the web with Internet explorer. I did have to change the GPRS settings and the proxy settings to get the web page access to work (I can send details if you PM me or these are available at the ATT knowledge base http://www.wireless.att.com/support/tutori...iverse=cingular under the blackjack device). No Edge signalling yet but that could be a function of some degraded towers that are being worked on in my area

Goodlink email. I think Goodlink needs to be reprovisioned. I am currently waiting to reinstall and reprovision goodlink and I suspect that this should then work fine

If anyone has any ideas on why 3G does not appear to be working or why the roaming icon is enabled, would love to hear from you

Thanks
