Guest Firaas Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Hmm, there's a couple of these popping up: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...2&category=3312 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...&category=10364 and a free one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...6&category=3312
Guest shadieb Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Is the free one your work by any chance Firaas? I wonder how many people will still pay for the instructions from the other auctions though?
Guest Firaas Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Nope, don't know who the free one is - looks to be someone from the site, though.
Guest AsherUK Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 I'd have to assume that the person who posted the free one on E-bay (mcwarre) would possibly be using the same username here. Not sure why anyone would want to post free info though, as it costs money to do that (albeit not a lot), but at least it might stop the others trying to charge for it ;)
Guest SirGaz Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Just checked the links and one of them has changed the price to free to match the third link. What's really funny is that he will send a link to a website containing the info. What's betting it's this site!!!!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 And I have sent a duplicate email complaint in for the other. Keep up the good work guys and we will get rid of these freeloaders
Guest budda Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 P.S. £40 inc. shipping for a 128SD !! Where else can u get that price?? www.ebuyer.com got em around that price - and IMO a bit less risky than eBay. I couldn't find an easy way to buy things directly with my credit card on eBay. Everybody wanted to use PayPal, and let them have a cut of the price too :?

Ebuyer are probably one of the most annoying, useless, unprofessional bunch of idiots I've ever dealt with in my life. And the cheapest they're selling seems to be around £52 + delivery. ValueMedia is cheaper.

It will be my first time using them - but i heard many people used them from www.thedvdforums.com - so will see how it goes. I gave up searching for a good price - but i was also after a CDRW at the same time and wanted to save postage if possible ;)

PayPal IS one of the most safest options available. Although I dont have any problem using a credit card or paypal. Cas
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 Result No2 about the second ripoff auction Thank you for alerting us to this auction. The auction in question has been ended by eBay. Well done to all members who find these people on ebay who are trying to ripoff our fellow SPV users. Keep em comming ;)
Guest BAMN Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 im glad i started this post now thanks to all for making it a good result!!!
Guest AsherUK Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Is this another one, or one of the same ones as before ? (there are so many I get confused !). http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...6&category=3312
Guest Firaas Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 All the previous auctions should be cancelled, so that's a new one!
Guest AsherUK Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Well maybe, when awarner gets around to seeing that post he'll work his magic on that one too and make it dissapear. I just wish we could get rid of all the: "New DVD Laptop Sony Plasma For £25" ads on e-bay, they drive me mad !
Guest pjc Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Just checked back on this thread after a few days (and lots of little red folders), and its great to see that these sort of 'rip you off' auctions can be stopped. Excellent work awarner.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I'll send them another email cheers Ashley
Guest darren22 Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Just ordered a 256Mb card from ebay for £61. Fingers crossed. :? :?
Guest yatpeak Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Great price! You shouldn't have any trouble, most people on ebay are pretty honest. Wyatt
Guest fozzie Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Just ordered a 256Mb card from ebay for £61. Fingers crossed. :? :? If it's the ones from topdot7 then you should have no probs - I got two ;) (and a 128Mb Memory stick for ~£33)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Right all we need to do something to stamp out these nasty pieces of society who are preying on our fellow SPV users  Some poor sods are using the pay now method so are getting ripped off before we can stop the auctions. I suggest that any auction we find, we mass mail the offender and also complain to ebay as well explaning the reasons why. I cannot do this alone I need some help. I have just emailed one such seller called oli_wal auction no 3005833575 and let him know what I thought about him  as he was the same person that I complained about before but someone did the buynow option so it was too late to close the auction. Come on all lets make a stand
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Just had another email from ebay auction No 42030500 has been ended. ;) lets keep the ball rolling on this one
Guest dbcohen Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 If you follow the link to the website advertised in the original auction (www.mobile-it.co.uk), you get a list of items. In there is a link to the BornSloppy page with the Network SIM swap workaround!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 And where did bornsloppy get their info from ;) ohh can you guess???
Guest casper508 Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Here's another one Ashley! He's most definitely using SPVunlock.exe. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...1&category=3312 Cheers Cas
