Guest bocsta Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 At the moment after installing the TT version (6) that came with my V1615 and downloading the one free map, I can not do a full postcode navigation....The first part of the post code is accepted then you have to enter the streetname. Does anyone know if this changes when you buy a full map and version of TT ?
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 TomTom6 comes with full postcode search as standard, I'm not sure about the version you have though.

Guest Arcam Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Try creating a blank folder, name it TOMTOM and place it at the root of your memory card, where you should also have a folder called ZIP which contains the postcodes. Kevin

Kevin That was the workaround for TTN5 installations, and shouldn't be necessary for TTN6, especially if correctly installed from the '2577' folder. It won't work for the 'Taster' maps, as they don't have a 'Zip' folder, though I'm not sure if this may work if you already had the Zip folder from somewhere ;)

Or if you are me, you create your TomTom Home account and download the postcodes (and traff cams) before you download the Western Europe map. This puts the postcode file into the folder of the free map. So when you switch maps to Western Europe you spend ages wondering where the POIs and Postcodes have gone !

Guest Mr.Clark Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 For TomTom 5 (I don't know if it's the same for 6), you had to install the Postcode search to the device memory, not the storage card, in able to get the full search functionality. Don't know why...

Don't know why... Not necessarily ;) I've run TTN5 on 3 different devices, and the Postcode database (ZIP folder) was happy on the storage card in all of them. As this is a 13MB file, it would take up a lot of useful space in Device Memory! One caveat was that for this to work, there had to be an empty TomTom folder on the storage card.
Guest Kermit The Frog Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Cool I've just tried this on TomTom6, and it worked - sweet. So all needed was the empty TomTom folder in root of storage, and the ZIP folder also in the root of the storage and it found the postcodes straight away. Thanks guys :( Not necessarily :D I've run TTN5 on 3 different devices, and the Postcode database (ZIP folder) was happy on the storage card in all of them.
