flashing light to indicate connection to network- tmobile shadow

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I have a T Mobile Shadow and there is a little green flashing button at the top that goes off every 3 seconds... I know it is to show that I have signal but it is the most annoying thing ever. I cannot figure out how to turn it off- I've called customer care and also the PDA support line for Tmobile, and neither of them knew how to turn it off. Every other phone i've had, i've been able to turn it off.

Does anyone know how?
