No problem kjt57. Glad I could help! I take it your points are now showing on the reward screen too?

bribar, you need to download the GPSID config utility in the Smarpthone new section, and set up an 'intermediary port'. You can then connect to that.

P

Paul, thanks for your help so far, I'm nearly up to 20000 points now (so I guess that's 4000 to you)! :)

I have read all through the GPSID thread and tried the utility but I can't see how to use it to enable Navizon and CamerAware to work simultaneously. Are there any basic instructions I am missing? OR:-

Is the GPSID utility just for devices with in-built GPS? Because I'm using a imate SP5 (HTC Tornado) which has Wi-Fi but not GPS. I'm using a Bluetooth GPS receiver which works fine with CamerAware using Com7, 115200baud and if running seperately it works fine with Navizon using the "Bluetooth connection" setting. They just don't seem to work together. (P.S. Tomtom 5.2 and Navizon don't seem to get along at all!)

Maybe your new version of CamerAware will be working and available soon so I don't have to worry about this problem though!! :D

Thanks in advance,

BB

Hi Bribar,

Yes they did hide it well - not well enough to stop me though :)

What name did you use when you registered with Navizon - I will check you appear on the maps.

Hi again Zippyioa,

I'm "Brianair" on Navizon and it does seem to work fine now so thanks again!

Oh and I've just referred myself as well :D and am now on Navizon as "Bribar3" too so I can clock up some more points with my work phone and SIM card (Nokia 6120 classic with Symbian S60 O.S. - Navizon is quite different on that!) Sorry to blaspheme with the N and S words!

GPS worked straight out of the box installed google at the ATT store, same for live search. I've uninstalled all of it hoping if I installed one at a time it would come back.

Didn't work. Was wondering if I should do a reset. Really want to Navizon lots of places where I'm at lots of points to find lol.

GPS settings are as follows and it used to work.

Program Port:

None

Hardware Port:

None

Hardware Port Baud Rate:

115200

Manage Automatically checked

in Google I had let Windows control it.. in live I had auto as well.

For those of you on a Kaiser/TyTN II/Vario III, remember to set it to 4800 baud.

That's the default system rate, that's the rate Google Maps, Windows Live, etc are all configured to expect, and the Kaiser doesn't react well when different apps are accessing the GPS at different rates.

Also, it's pointless for this GPSone chip because it only updates satellite/position info once per second so higher scan rates just burn battery - as I understand it. For other machines, use your default rate.

Interesting idea with the Baud rate NuShrike!!

I have always used 115200 as I figured a higher rate would improve the signal, or the time to access the signal, or something at least. While I don't profess to be an expert in this matter and I certainly don't base it on any sound technological knowledge of baud rates, my reasoning for it was based on many years of experience where more is better:

Some examples:

Computers - a faster chip, more memory and more storage are generally better.

Money - some is great, but MORE is much better.

Tiramisu - who wants a tiny slice when you can have a whopping great slab of it? :D

Cars (BHP) - the higher it gets, the faster it goes.

Cars (MPH) - the higher they go, the more fun you have!

So based on the above, more MUST be better, right? But looking at it from a different persective - and following NuShrikes comment about Baud rate - is more really better?

Some examples:

Fat - more fat is not good for you, and more fat on a person is not too good, especially with morbid obesity!

Radiation - more radiation is generally not too great - look at Chernobyl

War - goes without saying

Illness - again not too good

Drunken idiots fighting in the streets on a Friday/Saturday night - (I stongly believe the UK towns are becoming more chavy as each year passes) :)

So a questions for everyone - is more better? (where baud rate on a Tytn2 is concerned at least!) - any ideas/thoughts?

Cheers

Hi Bribar,

Both IDs show ok on the maps so you seem ok now!

Good idea about reffering yourself - might give that a go on my SEK800i if it will work.

Cheers

Bribar - the Navizon'd CamerAware beta is now available, but sounds like you need to use the GPSID to set the hardware port as COM7, and the program port as another spare one (COM6?) and connect the apps to COM6.

Thanks for the quick reply again Paul.

I tried that but no luck. With the above settings in GPSID both CamerAware and Navizon can still connect to the GPS when running seperately, without making any changes to their setups, so it appears that the GPSID app isn't really doing anything on my handset!

Anyway don't worry because I can wait for the next CamerAware with the manual Navizon data sync mode. (My 2 spare SIMs have no data connections (O2 work & T-Mobile PAYG German) and my own SIM is 3 which won't work in the 2G Tornado handset so I'll need to wait for the next release on CamerAware so that I can upload my data by Wi-Fi.)

BUT ALSO - in the meantime I think I'll just get a new SIM or two on UK PAYG on different networks (hopefully with data so I can try the CamerAware Beta) then I can log more cells and earn more points! And we all know what points mean don't we? :)

You have to change their setups to the new port you are configuring, the one the GPSID is now exposing!

P

Paul,

Sorry for not explaining myself properly but I did change the ports in Navizon and CamerAware to the port set in the GPSID config (i.e. Program Port: COM6, Hardware Port: COM7, Hardware Port Baud Rate: 4800, Ticked Manage Automatically) my Bluetooth GPS receiver is set to COM7 in the Comm Manager on the phone. But both programs refused to see the GPS if I set them to COM6 - they still worked using COM7.

BUT! - I just did a soft reset and the GPSID settings must have taken effect because now both CamerAware and Navizon are happily working together, at the same time, using COM6! :D

Apologies for wasting your time Paul but I'll still post this explanation just in case it helps anyone else with a similar problem.

Now to see if the new CamerAware beta works on my old Tornado handset :)

Should do, as long as you install .net CF 2.0!

I wish this software was more stable!!!

I have just returned home after driving two hours throught the centre of London.

I had 60 Cell Sites and 3600 AP's

I then foolishly pressed STOP rather than just sync over 3G and it locked the

program. Gave me my spinning disk and froze.

I have now lost all that data which would have given me another reward!!!

Why can't Navizon make this more bloody reliable!

RANT !!!!

Fozza, use CamerAware instead and it's much more stable!

I'm also gonna give CA (in the next few days) an option whereby you can have it sync every 10 minutes, to avoid situations like yours!

I should point out that although CamerAware is a commercial product, the free version (without Camera database) is perfect for Navizon logging :)

Assuming it has data plans. Can Cameraware log and sync on ActiveSync connect?

Not yet, but it will be able to soon.

P

Will it be able to list in real time the Navizon stats as you aquire them?

Not that I'm having too much fun with this but....................

It already shows live Navizon stats.

P

Is a few buttons presses away though. Was wondering if it could be placed somewhere on the

normal dash?

What are you using as a GPS for your M3100?

Check this out:

:)

Some BT solar powered jobbie. Not brill but works ok. The lead is obviously just a power cable.

The device in the top right corner is a 160GB Archos which is plugged into the AUX in the car.

Sorted for all Audiobooks, Music needs. ( Oh and features film whilst stuck in traffic on M25)

:D

If you go Display -> Navizon Stats, then it does show on the main display all the time (in the latest Beta!)

If you're running any of the V3 Betas (which you are), hit 'Check for Update' :)
