Guest cleandemon Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Which device? You need to point both this and TomTom at the port configured with the 'intermediary driver'. P It's a bluetooth gps unit that came with a navicore satnav thing I got free with an old nokia phone. Both applications can use the GPS unit fine when used separately so is it this intermediary driver bit I need to configure? Please explain. Thanks.

Guest Wolfie24 Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Has anyone got Navizon working with a C500? I get it installed ok, and i get green lights on Phone, and GPS, but as soon as my bluetooth GPS Receiver gets a decent signal (i.e when its not indoors) it crashes. Anyone else get this or know of a fix?
Guest tsutton Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Wolfie, no problem for me with SPV C500. I assume you're using the latest Orange patch?
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 If Tesco use O2, can you get points for finding the same cells using an O2 sim AND a Tesco sim? Im guessing that you will only get points for finding a specific cell. I know using foreign sim cards would be an idea to ensure that all cell's are picked up. However I don't think this would work in practice, unless there was a sim which had no network partnering agreements. Otherwise it will only pick up or login to their own partnered cells.
Guest Wolfie24 Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Wolfie, no problem for me with SPV C500. I assume you're using the latest Orange patch? Not sure on that one, all I know is that it is a tomtom gps receiver, and that it works with my tomtom software on the phone. Is this a specific patch that I need that gets it working? Did you have any problems at all getting yours working straight away? I have a unlocked SPV c500 with my o2 sim card in, would this orange patch that you speak of lock it to orange again do u think? or should this not be a problem seeing as tomtom works currently on this phone. I appreciate your reply :)
Guest tsutton Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 I use Vodafone SIM card on it. I've installed many different operating system on the phone and went back to Orange patch, it still works. :) SIM unlock stays with the hardware forever. On the C500, go to Start -> Settings -> About Scroll down until you see "Operator" - it should show 4.2.1.4 - that's the latest version. If you have old version, you can get the latest one from http://www.orange.co.uk/c500patch PLEASE NOTE! If you do this, it will WIPE OUT everything on the phone. So make sure you back up any data you need before doing this. Hope this helps.
Guest NuShrike Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Looks like Foz and Pau are both gone from the stats. For pau, again.

I checked my Operator version and it was 4.1.1.4, so I decided to give the patch a go. I backed stuff up first thanx for the tip. So its the same version as yours now, unforutnately I cant test whether its fixed the problem yet as Im at the inlaws and I forgot my BT GPS Receiver, grrr. But again many thanks for your support. Fingers crossed thats done the trick. One thing though, I didnt have to re-enter and settings in Navizon, it must store them somewhere safe on the storage card (which brings me to another question), is yours installed on the storage card or on the phone? wondered if that might make a difference) Cheers.

Guest petec500 Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 I'm off to the States soon and was planning to take my two phones running Navizon/CA3 with me to clock up some more points. What's the score though with finding cells with my Orange sim in the States though? Also, can someone confirm that i can store all points locally, even when shutting down Navizon/CA3 then sync when i get back to the UK? I've no idea what data charges will be applicable overseas. Cheers

Glad to hear that! That would mean it should work for Wolfie24 when he have the chance to run it.

Cheers Unknown, I have no idea how the Navizon API handles points that are not synced when it gets closed. :) I'll ask them! :D P
Guest NuShrike Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 (edited) Unknown, I have no idea how the Navizon API handles points that are not synced when it gets closed.I think it gets saved to some file db and stays there. I've uploaded points that survived a soft-reset. Edited January 26, 2008 by NuShrike

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 In CamerAware or Navizon itself tho? P
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Unknown, I have no idea how the Navizon API handles points that are not synced when it gets closed. :) I'll ask them! :D P Alternative might be to use netstumbler or wififofum and then upload the log file afterwards.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 You don't get credits for uploaded log files. P
Guest Wolfie24 Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Glad to hear that! That would mean it should work for Wolfie24 when he have the chance to run it. Thanks for the help guys, cant wait to try it with my gps receiver when I get home! Im glad to hear Scott was in the same situation and that the update worked for him, that gives me a lot of confidence. You guys know what your talking about :) I'll keep you posted, I should be able to test it Monday morning :D
Guest Wolfie24 Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Oh by the way, with this c500 patch that I have done, the BT Inbound/Outbound COM Port settings has disappeared from the configuration page, will this be a problem when I come to setting up my tomtom again after having wiped the phone with this patch? if so do you guys have any tips?
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 if you're going away and you still want to clock points up then open Navizon then tap on Menu, Options and then tap on the Data tab and set locator to (local database). These settings are 'permanent' and you can change back when you return but the last bit you need to do before you drive off is to open the options/data page again and tap Work Offline then tap OK and tap Start when you are ready and when you get to your destination tap Stop. When you return home of if you come to an WiFi hotspot open Navizon then tap Menu, Sync and that will upload your points to Navizon :) I do this all the time as I am on Virgin and the data rates are crap but I get loads of minutes and texts for peanuts so I always work offline.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Internally, CamerAware is using 'Work Offline' too, so the same should apply! P
