I'd recommend using Virtual PC to test out your ISOs as you go along to make sure everything is as it should be, it took me about 6 attempts to get something suitable. At current I have Windows XP SP2 with updates and Office 2007 (Word, Excel and Outlook), CCleaner, Windows Live Messenger and Nod Anti Virus installed with a 250meg pagefile taking up just under 2gig. :)

Update: Mine arrived yesterday while I was really busy with work. Slapped 2Gig of memory in it, although Xandros only recognises 1Gig for the OS, but Device Manager says "2 Gig". Changed it to Advanced desktop. Put in my mini bluetooth dongle and enabled it. Time to find the bluetooth management app, so i can link it to my phone for Bluetooth PAN usage of the Web n Walk!

Next pay day I have a list of things I want to get, 2gig ram, 8gig SDHC and a Logitech VX Nano mouse. :) I've been playing around and installing things, put Adobe reader on and an overclock utility as well as a screen rotate utility for use with CDisplay (Comic Book Reader) as well as Transport Tycoon. :D Took it out and used it today, sat in a nice bar / pub and whipped a short story into shape that I needed to finish for inclusion in my local writing groups anthology. :D It's luvverly!! :D

Apart from I don't really like the logitech software designs. All this constant updating business! :s Well last night I had bluetooth dongle working under Xandros full desktop, tried to tether it to my Vario III today and didnt wanna play. So I've just ordered a 16GB SDHC class 6 card, for 70 quid including next day delivery. So that should take it to roughly 20Gig capacity, which will be ideal. Assuming it does arrive tomorrow, then I shall be installing XP. At least I can make XP do what I want it to do without having to resort to google every time (like in Xandros). Was so funny in the office yesterday, people wanding past giving funny looks!
Guest Prosody Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 (edited) If you tethering for the uses of the internet connection then have you tried WinMoWiFiRouter? http://www.wmwifirouter.com/ It basically makes your Vario 3 share it's internet connection over WiFi so there's no pairing and such. Should be as painless under Xandros as it is under XP. :) I't just a bit of a battery drain. :/ EDIT : The site appears to be down at the moment. Guest Monolithix Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 No probs with the 0.91 WMWifiRouter here, but they're having "legal issues" apparently, so who knows when it'll be back! For Windows: ICS would work fine via both the device and XP. No idea about Xandros though :/

I didn't mind too much as they were still cheaper than most other places. I just recieved a letter through the post from PC World apologising for the inconvenience caused and refunding me £11. :) You had anything? Sucks if not and I hope youdo but that was a nice little bonus to come home to. :D

Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Keep us posted, as I might be very tempted by the 8G ... or even better the forthcoming 900. It will be nice to have a little storage free, the ability to hibernate, and a slightly bigger screen in a box about the same size.
