Guest trickyhenry Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Thx Meto, nice reply, I´ll think about that another time. No go to the i780 (not a fan of Samsung) - looking at the i-mate right now! Got a Voucher for Expansys on 10 big ones..so I´ll buy it there. You may want to check out devicewire.com if they ship to you. They are "Hugh symonds" distribution so are well connected and have plenty of stock, first for stock as buy from vendor and are good with customer service.

Guest trickyhenry Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 LOL - yes I am trickyhenry :D I do - but my gear needs to be state of the art! and in top shape- Wird? yes a bit.... I did try out the Cruise - nice unit! The P750 is a nice all in one unit! I have the same problem and end up buying new then selling on ebay.. I'll lose £80.00+ each time and still not learned my lesson. I hope the p750 will curb my hunger for a few months. I have a tytn ii and cruise to sell this month! Think i need to get a new hobby.
Guest Joost39 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I´m in the same boat... NEVER ever learn? :( :D
Guest Metoo Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) Thx Meto, nice reply, I´ll think about that another time. No go to the i780 (not a fan of Samsung) - looking at the i-mate right now! Got a Voucher for Expansys on 10 big ones..so I´ll buy it there. I'd keep your voucher for something else. Expansys' i-mate prices are WAY over the top - GBP 434.95 compared to around 370 elsewhere - including at the "official" UK importer:- http://www.devicewire.co.uk/i-mate-ultimate-8502 Same goes for the 9502 - GBP 479.95 - around 399 at most other sources. The i780 is even worse - GBP 439.75 - around 329 elsewhere! I too used to have Expansys as my default supplier. But lately their prices have gone sky high, they rarely seem to be the first to get new devices, and they've reduced their once generous "no-quibble" returns window down from 21 to the legal minimum of 7 days. Even the class-leading support for their own brands seems to have gone out the window (check the Ubiquio 503g forum). Maybe they're just trying to concentrate on corporate sales, or have overstretched themselves with MWg. I know this site is increasingly pro-Expansys because of their sponsorship, but these days I can't see any reason to choose them now above the likes of Clove or Devicewire - especially with prices like the above :D Incidentally, there are a couple of very informative "real user" i-mate 8502/9502 threads over at HoFo. Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Having played with the i-mate devices at MWC, I was very much underwhelmed. I can't see any other device out there that I would genuinely use as my every day device other than the P750 (my current device of choice) or the Kaiser. re: where to buy from, I buy from wherever's cheapest :D P
Guest flashflash Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 feels like the tone has gone negative here. I must admit there seems to be quite a few new models coming out on the horizon, so maybe its worth waiting!
Guest Joost39 Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Noo, its indeed a very nice phone! But must admit that ASUS support havent been there for me (cracking corners), so the P750 is up for sale...

Guest Zimaia Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Noo, its indeed a very nice phone! But must admit that ASUS support havent been there for me (cracking corners), so the P750 is up for sale... After reading this post i did find my P750 also with the same problem in corners. I agree that Asus P750 (I don't know about other models from asus) is nothing compare with HTC in mater of quality of constrution. I have an old Qtek S100 and is muth muth better than asus in materials quality. Anyway i must confess that i realyyyyyyy like P750 anf after using T9 keyboard i don't want to go back to an pocket pc without T9. I'm from Portugal and we report to Asus iberia and not to malasia or hongKong. I speak to my reseller about this problem and they told me that they have a lot of same situations about corners cracking and they are doing what they can to solve this with Asus Iberia. I don't know the ending of this but one thing is shore i will go almost at the end to keep my P750
Guest Joost39 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 (edited) Nice knowing this is an issue world wide, thank you very much Zimaia! I love this phone, but the reseller i Austria (far away) wont answer my mails, and ASUS just tell me to contact them? at least five other people in Denmark have the same issue! ASUS must support their buyers :D I payed over 360 pounds plus shipping for this phone/PDA, it broke after 2-3 weeks. Edited April 29, 2008 by Joost39

Guest Joost39 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Maybe, its the best damn phone I ever owned, but sadly ASUS did not help me with this issue before now. The housing is too weak and badly built I think...compared to HTC.
Guest Enozekun Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 (edited) Hi all, my first post on this forum. I won an Asus P750 last week from Asus and i love it! My old phone was stolen two weeks so this was truly godsent. I haven't had any problems with my phone yet, and hopefully i never will, but i think the GPS is kinda slow and non-accurate. This kinda goes against the fact that the P750 has got a SirfIII chip which i thought was fast and accurate. Am i doing something wrong? I haven't had any experience with GPS before this phone so i'm not sure how it should work either. I'm using TomTom Navigator 6 and these settings: "Other NMEA GPS" => "4800 baud" => "GPS" I barely get any connection inside and it takes about two minutes or so until i get a valid signal. When i finally get a signal it goes up and down and it isn't very accurate. For instance, i tried the GPS when i was on the bus on the way to school. After a couple of minutes i got a signal but sometimes it jumped to other streets than the one i was traveling on and it was twisting and turning when the road itself wasn't. This doesn't feel very accurate to me. Hopefully someone can help me with this issue. I love everything about the Asus P750, so i wanna love the GPS too :D PS. I downloaded the mediaplayer "TCPMP" and when using the equalizer together with the P750's built-in sound-enhancer the sound is wonderful! It's even better than my ipod. I bought a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter so i can use my nice koss porta pro headphones. Edited April 29, 2008 by Enozekun
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Still no cracks on my (Hong Kong) device, I still love it too! I wish the VGA ROM worked with the Camera better, but it does look completely amazing :D P
Guest Joost39 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Enozekun - you need to choose the following setup in V.Tomtom 6.032 - the newest version. Another bluetooth GPS GPS port or the COM4 Mine is very stable!!
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 I see eXpansys have stock again! P
Guest Joost39 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 WOW. Just got my HTC P3470 from them (but i CAN see its used, and the TT6 is used, Expansys did not use my voucher Code?) it works nicely though!
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Sure, it's nice enough, but no WiFi? No VGA? No keypad? The P750 is obviously another league...? P
Guest Joost39 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 I agree P - as you know by now - I love the P750 :D , but gave up after the 4 cracking corners.... Now it seems that ASUS will repair it! I hope so!
Guest trickyhenry Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Sure, it's nice enough, but no WiFi? No VGA? No keypad? The P750 is obviously another league...? P Agreed .. waste of money if you ask me. P750 for a few months until someone releases something better. HP seem to be on the ball and have some good devices on the way. I guess Asus must be well on the way with their next devices by now too. HTC still nothing to be interested in yet.. yet cause i am excited about the new touch flo. Should have my device later this week! excited!
Guest flashflash Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Ok, cancelled with Devicewire and now checking out expansys. Paul, well spotted!
Guest flashflash Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Still no cracks on my (Hong Kong) device, I still love it too! I wish the VGA ROM worked with the Camera better, but it does look completely amazing :D P Hi Paul, you still running rom 0.17? I'm expecting delivery tomorrow. Did anyone manage to find a dumped UK rom to flash it back to if needed? Also, you mention in previous posts that you are not experiencing any noticable memory leaks but other people are suggesting its a serious problem.
