Guest TheDevil234 Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Hello, this is my first post so excuse me if its kinda noobieish (is that even a word). I have a Tmobile branded Vario III, and i decided that i wanted to unbrand it ( well depink it) so i did a hard reset on the phone and took the battery out at the point where it starts loading all the Tmobile crap on. now im quite happy with the way it has turned out no pink no tmobile branding apart form teh initial splash screen. but the only thing iappear to be missing that i may want is the access to the wifi hotspots that came preinstalled on the device i have called the customer services and they passed me to the hotsopt guys but no one on the end of the phone knew how to get these back. apparently a hard reset should not cause these settings to dissapear ( unless you pull the battery) so where do i get them back from .
Guest TheDevil234 Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Well it seems like i have found the file responcible for adding in all of the wifi settings, but im not sure how i go about installing it as its an XML file not a cab file. any hints are welcome XML: \WINDOWS\PP_TMO_WiFi_SSID.xml
Guest jimbouk Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 (edited) That xml file will contain the details but it would have been read by the customisation app (prob a cab or exe file). If you can't find the appropriate cab, I would run the full customisation and then just remove the bits you don't like = like the homescreen. Edited March 12, 2008 by jimbouk

This runs after a hard reset, but you stopped yours by removing the battery (and you can acheive the same thing by a soft reset as teh customisation starts). The Ext ROM is normally not visible to File Managers, but you can make it visible by a registry hack, or running the cab file downloadable in This Post on XDA Devs. Once the ExtROM is visible, you may be able to find the T-Mobile WiFi installation file, and run it by tapping its name. Don't tap anything you are not sure of otherwise you may install something you don't want!
